3BR Sleep 6 PALO DURO CANYON Cabin + WTAMU Trails
Summary:
The main home on our Palo Duro Canyon Base Camp compound near Canyon, TX. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, indoor fireplace, and complimentary golf access at the neighboring course. Sized right for a family canyon trip, a couples weekend, or a small crew doing TEXAS Outdoor Musical nights at Pioneer Amphitheatre. Stand-alone stay, or pair it with the bunker, tiny home, or airstream on the same compound for a larger group.
The Space:
This is the main house on our compound, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home set on acreage at the edge of Palo Duro Canyon. Three beds, comfortable for 6 guests. Ample windows pull the canyon and the open Texas sky inside. The living room runs around an indoor fireplace, which earns its keep on the cool mornings and chilly fall evenings.
The full kitchen is set up to cook real meals: stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, toaster, blender, ice maker, cookware, dishes and silverware, wine glasses, baking sheet, and barbeque utensils. Dining table seats the group together. Washer and dryer on site for longer stays and post-trail laundry. Wireless internet throughout, plus a laptop-friendly workspace if you need to log in for a call between hikes.
Bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, body soap, hair dryer, towels, hangers, and bed linens. Heating and air conditioning handle the full West Texas weather range.
Outside, a BBQ grill, free parking on the premises, and golf-course views set up the slow part of the day. Complimentary golf access at the neighboring course is included with the stay. The property is shared with our other compound buildings, but each unit has its own private entry, so your three-bedroom home is yours.
This home is suitable for events with prior approval, family-friendly with smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit on hand. It is set up for travelers with infants and kids ages 2 to 12.
If your group is larger than 6, you can add the bunker, the tiny home, the airstream, or one of the cabins as a stand-alone stay on the same compound. Or book the entire property as a single stay through our combo listings for groups up to 28.
Guest Access:
You will have private access to the main home: all three bedrooms, both bathrooms, the kitchen, the living room, the dining area, and the private entry. Self check-in. We send access details, a parking map, and a brief orientation a day before arrival so you can drop bags and settle in fast.
The Neighborhood:
We sit in Canyon, TX, the town that wraps around Palo Duro Canyon. The main park entrance off State Highway 217 is a short drive from our gate, which puts the Lighthouse Trail and the canyon rim road in easy reach. The TEXAS Outdoor Musical runs Tuesday through Sunday at 8pm from June through August at Pioneer Amphitheatre, which sits inside the park. Downtown Canyon has the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, West Texas A&M University, and local BBQ and Tex-Mex within a few miles. Amarillo is a short drive north on I-27 for the Big Texan Steak Ranch and Cadillac Ranch off I-40. Daytime out here is rim hikes, golf, and museum afternoons. Nighttime is starlight a city sky can never quite show you.
Getting Around:
A rental car is required. Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (AMA) is the closest commercial airport, with a straightforward drive south on I-27 to Canyon, then west on Country Club Road to the property. Rideshare options in Canyon are limited, so plan on at least one car per family or couple.
Other Things to Note:
This is a rural property at the edge of the canyon, shared with our other compound buildings. Expect real darkness at night, wildlife at dawn, and quiet that city ears take a day to settle into. Cell signal varies by carrier on the acreage, so wifi calling is helpful. Wind picks up in the afternoons, so secure outdoor items.
Interaction with Guests:
We respect your privacy. No one is on site full-time. Our team is on call from early morning to late evening Texas time and typically responds within an hour during the day. Message us through the booking platform for anything from a thermostat question to a recommendation for dinner in Canyon.
