The staff are the best. They made my stay fantastic. The living quarters were great, unfortunately I was right near the kitchen which is quite noisey. The room was a little cramped because of the awkward corner it was in. But that didn't take away from the lovely experience I had. Very attentive and friendly staff from the front desk to the kitchen to housekeeping. The art and quarters in the main communal area were beautiful. I would definately go back.

The room i had was a bit remote and in a different building/location to the reception, and to drop off keys etc was out of the way and inconvenient. Wifi wasnt working on the first night and no hairdrier in the room. But it was convenient for my training location so acceptable. Mattress was comfortable, heater worked and it was clean.

The lodge has great potential, but management needs to focus on the detail. On arrival, there was no water in the en-suite bathroom. The kettle in the room was filthy, and I had to request a clean one from reception. But most disappointing was that the room was not connected to the generator like the rest of the lodge was, and I was not informed of this when booking or when checking in. Should I stay here again I would really like to see that these issues have been dealt with.

The lady at the front desk was wonderful to deal with. Breakfast was included and they exceeded my expectations. The staff were lovely. There was a mix-up of some kind when attempting to check in, where we were told our booking was cancelled despite it being confirmed on hotels.com website they were able to rectify this and check us into a different room. Following this our stay was uneventful, the room was large, the bed comfy and the breakfast was good. The area where it is located is a little out of the way, but the hotel has tall security gates around the property and secured parking..

Stayed here due to proximity to airport. The property is deceptively expansive with lots of interesting art work in several buildings. Breakfast was substantial. This is on the way to the wine country. Nicer locations in the wine country itself.

Hidden Gem 20 minutes from Cape Town Airport

The Balmoral Lodge is a hidden gem whose oasis of serenity is only a 20minute drive from Cape Town airport. Why stay at an over priced and impersonal run-of-the-mill airport hotel? You could be sipping cocktails instead next to a beautiful turquoise pool, under a uniquely designed South African"lapa" With an abundance of friendly, caring staff; spacious accommodation that tastefully reflects the African culture; an extensive breakfast buffet included in your stay (or add-on a dinner) at prices that don't blow the budget - the Balmoral Lodge has no trouble holding its own against many so called "superior" hotels. I give the BL TWO Thumbs UP and am happy to say that I have plans to book back here again next year!
