Lionel and his staff were amazing - he went to the shop to buy our choice of wine and picked us up and delivered us back to the airport on time and cheerfully. A great Budget Guest House close to the airport with a shuttle service.
Be sure to ask about Dinner timing as itâs early for Europeans.
Maybe not a safe area for a single person to go out at night.
We stayed in the 'annexe' of the Sun Bell Lodge next door due to a large party of guests in the main guesthouse. Our stay was over New Year and the holidays. We really enjoyed the home away from home feeling of the place and being far enough away from the city to be quiet but not too far that we could not enjoy it freely. Any minor teething issues were dealt with in a very friendly and efficient manner. We would definitely stay here again!
On arrival we put into rooms 17 & 18, this is in another house, 2 houses down the street, it was absolutely shocking, disgusting, something cooking in the kitchen that was stinking out the whole house, no keys for the rooms, no WiFi, no minibar, no kettle, no premium bedding! no remotes for TV, our one rooms door handle was broken! on complaining to the young training manageress we were moved into the main house, still no kettle in the rooms. the other guests were very loud. we were never approached by the owner/manager to apologize, the young trainee was very kind & apologetic. the food was way below standard, no fruit salad was served, on request we were given an apple! the parking is a nightmare, there is NOT enough parking for the rooms, i had to move my car every night & ask for others to move theirs every morning! the quality of the stay was atrocious! we will NEVER return. the photo's on the web are completely misleading! we had a 5 night stay & the bedding was never changed! twice we returned to find our rooms standing open & unlocked! mosquito's were bad, no tabard was supplied, once we returned at the end of the day & no towels were available. this was the worst business trip to CT ever, will never use them again!
We booked this guest house due to it being close by the airport (11km). In this respect it met our expectations. We booked a luxury suite and found it really wasn't luxury at all but I suspect it was just bigger and with a bigger bathroom than the other rooms there. The website doesn't show many photos. Whilst Sun Bell Lodge was ok I think it is more suited to students and backpackers than it was for us. The property is in a less than celubrious area and in fact was quite a run down area. The pool was tiny and lacked maintenance and needed cleaning out. The outside area whilst good enough to sit around in it was quite dingy. We only stayed one night and in the morning got up to find breakfast, which was right next to the luxury suite, was a communal affair for about 20 people. Cereal, bread, toast etc and a cooked breakfast was offered. Everyone who worked there were extremely polite and welcoming but we just did not fit in with the casual arrangement of the place. The wall from reception to bedroom was covered in graffiti and signatures of past visitors - this didn't look attractive. The iron bars on the windows indicated the sort of area we were staying in and this was a cause for concern. Having said that there was a very secure entry gate into the driveway.
For people who are used to staying in the more communal/hostel type of place this is ideal and the accommodation itself is safe. I would be concerned, however, at the locality.
