One of the best stays we've ever had. Amazing location, spacious rooms with good beds, well equipped kitchen and those views..! Juan the host was really communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. I would say the pictures say enough and trust that its even better in real life.
We had a fabulous time at the villa. It had all the amenities we could need and more and suited all from 2 yr olds to much older. Each room being en suite was an added bonus. The house is so well maintained, all areas inside and out including the pool are clean and welcoming. The drive to the house is steep and not for the faint hearted but we soon got used to it. The village is lovely to visit too. Its about 20 minutes drive into Malaga and 30 to the coast. We loved our stay and would absolutely stay again.
This really is a wonderful place to spend a holiday with friends and family. Spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a great time!
The road up is very steep so have a good car. And the time of year meant that there were a lot of wasps about which was a bit of a downside.
The recommendations to eat in town one evening at a lovely restaurant and to walk the Caminito del Rey were spot on - both were memorable experiences and we would recommend them both too.
I wouldnât hesitate in recommending staying here and those spectacular views will live long in the memory.
We celebrated 2 x 50th birthday with friends and family and really enjoyed this amazing house. We had enough space for everyone, especially the fact that each room has its own badroom.
The view is undescribable - great pool and a well-equipped kitchen.
Thank you to Diego and the team for supporting us with the few struggles we had. The Air condition was unfortunately not working the first 5 days, but the team was working on solving the problem and finally end of week solved what was broken. Thank you very much for this.
Fantastisk bjerghus med den smukkeste udsigt. Tidligere hotel, gÞr det perfekt for familier. FÊllesomrÄder og mulighed for privat sfÊre.

We stayed at La Era with 15 people for our annual office retreat and we couldn't have picked a nicer venue for this! The villa is a former hotel, which offers a lot of space and the most amazing views!
Even before our arrival we were very well instructed by Juan, who also gave us lots of tips on what to do during our stay (visiting the Caminito del Rey was definitely the best advice!), where to go grocery shopping and even where to find the best offer for rental cars. When we arrived we were kindly greeted by Mariano, who showed as around and explained everything we needed to know.
The villa is very well taken care of: Tidy, clean and has an extremely well equipped kitchen, where we enjoyed cooking for the entire team on a daily basis. The garden and the whole area around the house are also in great shape! We also enjoyed the pool a lot, which wasnât heated, but it was great to cool ourselves off even with âonlyâ 21-25° outside.
In the beginning we had a problem with the hot water, but it could soon be fixed by the kind support of Diego, the gardener. Any sort of questions or requests were answered in no time and all of our requirements were met to our satisfaction.
We were quite surprised how steep the roads were that lead up to the house. Because of heavy rain during the some days prior to our stay there was also a lot of loose gravel. The first time we drove up there people had to get out of the car to push it up. But once we knew what wer were in for, we were better prepared and all the following times driving up to the house we had no problems at all :) In the end it was all paid off with the exceptional views anyways :)
Since we were there for an office retreat, we spent most of the time at the house to hold workshops and such. The big dining area and also the outside area with its parasols were just perfect for that matter. But the house offers also lots of opportunities to withdraw from the group and find cosy places to relax (inside and outside). The wifi could have been a bit better at times for our purposes, since we also came there to work. But I also understand that this is rather a place for relaxation and enjoying a vacation offline.
All in all we had a great stay and felt very comfortable. It was definitely hard to leave this place after a week.
Big thanks again to the entire team that is running the place and its surroundings!
We would gladly come back any time!
Kind regards,
Sarah
Fabulous. Amazing views. Villa clean and spacious. Good sized pool. Owner very helpful. Loved it.
Stayed with a family of 13. Ages 1 to 79. Villa well equipped spacious and clean, views are mesmerising, Lots of large communal areas for family gathering together but also lots of hideaway places for peace and quiet,
The pool is definitely big enough - we had lots of fun - large enough for 13 plus lots of blow ups!
The drive up is steep but absolutely doable and not as scary as some of the reviews.
Loved sitting on the large veranda overlooking the village drinking morning coffee and evening glass of wine.
Highly recommend for large groups of friends and family,
WiFi - not great - but you can get 4G
Outstanding villa with wonderful vista and an experience worth repeating.
A spacious and very well appointed villa with an excellent kitchen and a significantly pleasing view.
Owners were extremely helpful & quickly responded to any queries.
Directions to the villa were crystal clear and accurate.
Beware of possible extra charges for use of A/C which we expect any villa hire to include when advertised as a facility.
Nevertheless, an outstanding villa more than worth a visit, and one of the few that I would like to revisit.
Stayed with friends for two weeks. Property is in excellent condition; owner helpful, easy to deal with and responsive to our every need prior to and during our stay. Great views of the small town; excellent location outside the hustle and bustle of larger urban centers; yet, close enough to enjoy Malaga. Great propert and excellent value!
The house itself cannot be faulted - clean, spacious and well equipped. It is a former hotel now rented out as a villa (La Era). The views across the mountains and Casarabonela are amazing. However, the road leading up to the property is part dirt track, and in sections so steep that our hire cars struggled. It means that it is neither possible to walk into the village (in theory the distance can be covered on foot but I wouldn't have wanted to meet a car as a pedestrian), nor would we have liked to have driven up to the property in the dark. The house is in a beautiful area, but there are no attractions nearby - everything is at least an hours' drive on small windy roads. The pool is nice, but a little small for the number of occupants the house can take.
We rented this oasis in the mountains of Malaga, this past June. The amenities were top notch and the villa was so comfortable to stay at. This property use to be a hotel, so all the rooms have the same amenities (i.e. en suite bathroom, plenty of closet space w/hangers, safes in every room, fans, air conditioning, etc.). The property has an amazing view of Casarabonela township, along with a view of other villages. There is plenty of parking space, a nice pool that can cool you down on a hot summer day, a charming courtyard on side of the house and a beautiful covered patio on the other. Most of the rooms have private balconies, that you can sit out on. There is a fantastic gourmet kitchen, laundry room, huge dining room, beautiful living room, foyer, etc. etc. etc. The owner, Frank and his lovely wife, Isabelle, were a god-sent, as they were so accommodating and helpful before and during our stay. The process to book this villa was easy and convenient. Frank can arrange catering and a wonderful band for your stay, if you so choose. I would recommend a few things:
1. Try to get there during daylight, because the roads are not well signed and it's easy to miss the markers.
2. Be okay with driving through hilly roads, some of which is unpaved.
3. Plan to have groceries for your first night there, as the village grocery store, closes early and there really isn't a 2nd option.
The house has free Wi-Fi that is at a fairly good speed. Bring your cameras, because you will want to take a 1000 pictures from the house, the village and the walking trail on the property of the house.
Overall, we had a very memorable trip. We were able to relax and disengage from the hustle and bustle of our every day lives and Frank and Isabelle catered to our needs, whenever we called on them. Andy, their son, was also quite helpful and made all the pre-reservation activities smooth. We are grateful to the Nuevespigas family.
