Charming cottage overlooking Lake Acre

This cozy and inviting cabin offers you a relaxing, serene, and tranquil setting. Inside you will enjoy a charming and comfortable, well-kept cabin with all the amenities that you need. During your stay you will see nature at its finest. Enjoy a drink on the large deck overlooking the picturesque landscape as well as the lake. If you enjoy fishing then this stocked lake is the place for you. Feel free to fish on the bank or the dock. This cabin is part of the original homestead that was established in 1855 by Valentine Kimber. It is located less than 10 minutes from interstate 57 and local winery trails.

2nd time staying here Suzzie is a great host goes out of her way to make sure you’re happy the coffee pot went out the day after we got there didn’t look very old told her about it and that it wasn’t a big deal we just boiled some water and poured it t the filter about a half hour later she showed up with another one looking forward to our next trip there so peaceful relaxing and quiet can’t wait

Cute Dongola Cabin

Cute updated cabin with a rich history on small lake. It was central to all the places and things we visited. Suzzie was an excellent host. We had our family of 5 there for the weekend and it was a great place to stay. We'll be back in the future.

What a gem!

This place is nothing short of amazing. The views, the fishing and the wildlife. This short trip to decompress from work was so worth it and we wish we had more time off to stay longer. Suzy is amazing. The cabin is adorable and fully stocked with all the things you need. This will be another of our yearly stops!

Getaway weekend

Is located about 35 minutes from Marion and 45 from Carbondale. A small town with Walmart and others businesses is about 10 minutes away. The residence is an older house that has been very well maintained and is super clean. The hostess was very helpful with everything. There are seats out front and a large deck, with a covered area, on the back porch that overlooks a large pond. There is only one residence that can be seen from this one and we never saw anyone around it. This is a great place to stay and relax. Will be looking forward to going back and staying in the future.

The deck is amazing, the view from the deck is even better 😍. The paddle boats were fun and the lake is nice and big. We caught a few fish in it too. Suzzie is a wonderful host and was very quick to respond from the start. We visited in March (obviously a chillier time of year in Illinois) and it was worth it. I can’t wait to go back!

Better than advertised!

This place is incredible. In town for a race and I couldnt have found a better place to stay! Super private, my own pond with pier was A++ and the place was really clean, cute and well stocked with everything I needed. Only down side was I didnt stay longer! Ill be back next year for sure.
