This grandiose, toy fort like, building, stated in the doomsday book, is greatly placed for RHS Bridgewater, Chester cathedral and Chester zoo alike!

Bath had black mould on side. Next to no WiFi signal in my room and no mobile signal either. Not great when I wanted to do some work! Also no bottled water or coffee machine in room as stated when booking room. The ‘hot’ breakfast was cold. Staff very friendly and efficient

Disappointing

Not the best unfortunately. First room we had the bed had a big sink hole,.unsure how tnay could go unnoticed when the bed was being made. Staff were great in getting us a replacement room. This did mean we had to wait around a little whilst they made it into a twin room. I am the type of person that likes my twin bed to be moved away from the other bed, I.like.space. I.dont think under the bed had ever been cleaned. However all the ither areas of the room weree spotless. Bedding was lovey & fresh. We went out for the evening upon return I felt the room.was a little cold but was unable to.turn the heating on. Decided to watch tv for an hour before bed but the TV had no signal. I did give feedback to the staff in the morning and was told they knew about the TV issues. She unfortunately didn’t seem bothered by anything just the genric sorry about that. For the price I paid I dont think it was value for money. Positives - rooms spacious and.the spa was good.

This hotel needs serious refurbishment. Hallway and breakfast room carpets stained and grubby. Mouldy sealant in shower cubicle. Paint on curtains. Loose door handles. Rubbish bin had coffee stains on outside. Holes in furniture fabric. Bed was comfortable and hotel relatively quiet

The exterior of the building is beautiful, but unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Tired, dirty, dated interior and rooms. Spa is nothing like the photos on the website - more like a public baths. The changing rooms have mold on the walls, with broken lockers and showers. Room was meant to be 'superior' but it was awful. Really hot and couldn't get to sleep, nothing superior about it. I would have been ok with it all if I'd not paid so much for a special treat. Even the staff were telling everyone how they were fed up and leaving the following week! It's such a shame as it could be so much more. It's convenient to get to Chester City Centre. Unfortunately, won't return here.

Dissapointing

Visited this hotel numerous times and always enjoy the stay. Unfortunately this time it was a let down. Firstly, no upgrade. As a gold member we usually receive an upgraded room. Although rooms weee available we did not receive. The hotel is starting to look tired and in need of investment. Our room was spacious however signs of damage caused by damp, with flaking paint. The decor was poor, no bedside table and the painting looked like it had been done by a child, with missed patches and their were lots of old cob webs. Last stay here for us I think.

Lovely hotel but needs updating

Hotel could do we updating very old and needs some love and care. Signage could be better as it was hard to find where things was. staff where so helpful and nothing was too much for them. Breakfast was ok but was not hot

Hotel was great all I will say is the breakfast not so good, no plates, tea cups, fresh orange. Not all the breakfast was available either when we went down no hash browns, eggs, toast and the same with some of the continental.

Very nice

Travelling from York, so was a stop over before hitting Wales. Hey, it was a nice place to stay. The room was incredible (although for me, I'd change the carpet on the staircase to room 9. Visually, very tricky!!) Check in was quick and easy. The only thing I'd point out, and it is nit picking, I think the staff need to be more 'that's no problem, we'll sort that out' as opposed to 'we'll see what we can do,' ... Yeah, I've worked in customer service for 40 + years blah blah... and we all have off days. We're dealing with the hardest product known to man!!... the public!! It can be draining! But the smallest adjustment in focus can make a huge difference. But like I say, I'm being proper mean and picky there. Food was excellent, the checkout lady was lovely as were the breakfast people. I'd definitely consider stopping again.
