Run down condo with little maintenance

I would say i had a bad experience from. Check in to Check out. There is bugs or dust mites on the beds and my boy got a nasty skin rashes and toilet are not clean at all even they charged you Thb200 for clean up before you moved in. The air conditioning is not cold, i guess no gas and Room 515 is vacant with nobody or reception to ask from room keys. Transportation is ok with Grab but off from CBD areas. My recommendation is look for others near to Chiangmai airport. I believed they are not fit for charging hotel but hostel pricing.

Quiet spot

I was a bit apprehensive about booking after seeing some reviews, but we had a nice stay and would recommend this place. Communication with the PM was great; we exchanged several emails between my questions and our last minute travel changes. The bed was comfy, water hot, room clean, and building quiet. We wound up having to book an extra night in a different room and both were perfect for what we needed. There is a mini store downstairs selling eggs, fruits, veggies, and other basics. There is also a small restaurant where we had breakfast on the last day. We would definately stay again the next time we are in Chiang Mai.

old, dirty, with cleaning charge

i choose because it sell with ticket and area 40 m2 include kitchen. But old , dirty and smell. TV screen is not sharp. water spill out under refringe . smell bad on walk way . Elevator is slow and old . cleaning charge and location is not ok . car park not enough.

Poor place. Avoid if possible.

Hotel was very cheap. You did have to pay a 200 bhat for cleaning - which never happened once in the 7 days we stayed there. Really annoyed with that. We did ask for a towel to be replaced as it was wet, we had to ring the owner as the reception wasn't able to resolve our wet towel issue. The owner came and then charged us 20 bhat to change the towel. We were also unable to get any spare toilet tissue from the reception. Close by was a nice lively bar, which was full of locals but they were very welcoming. If you want to stay somewhere cheap then I'd advise you to go somewhere else. The air con was great, 28 inch TV was old but fine - remote control didn't work but I have one on my phone. Definitely stay elsewhere.

Stayed for 10 days, a bit far from city center but with scooter only 5 minutes. Room was very big and comfortable. It is a condo not a hotel so room service was an additional cost.

Okay for the price

As the other reviews point out, this is a condo of privately owned rooms let out by the local staff. You will receive cleaning only on moving in for which you will pay 200 baht, regardless of the length of time you stay. I stayed in two different rooms; in one of the them wifi was very poor and the AC so noisy I turned it off second day. Because this is NOT a hotel, the downstairs staff and overall condition will not be hotel quality; but you understand this. The neighborhood is about 2km south of the town center.

avoid this property - awful

We did not stay there after we saw the filthy, old, horrible room and the building and location, we left and found alternative accommodation. We had already paid for 14 nights in this horrible place and only stayed long enough to get a taxi out of there. The photos on the web site look nothing like reality. There was cut up pieces of packing boxes on the floor in the lift to hide the holes and grease. The curtains in the room were torn and not hanging, the bath towels and mat looked like someone had used them to clean a car engine. The floor was covered in dirty marks and I will never forget the stale smell in the room. Shame on Wotif for having this property listed. It has been a very expensive and extremely unpleasant experience and has to be stopped for other innocent travellers.

It's a condo not hotel

If you book this hotel you need to be clear in your mind it's a condo. It does not come with Hotel standards or staff to help. However firstly it's a great price. Shown to the condo and it's condition is mixed. Large hard bed, terrible seating area, good small kitchen and bathroom. Daily house keeping does not exist. It seems to be random. House keeping isn't to hotel standards. You will see corners that need attention etc however it is cleaned. It did come with TV, DVD player and dining table. Our balcony was a no go area. Small dirty and overlooking a half built building. Birds visited daily. You can get food at the condo, which is very cheap and tasted great. There is a small shop but your better going to 7-11. Location can be a problem for some I think. It's only a 15 minute walk to the Night Market. In 35c and bad paths can be difficult. However you will pass by the real Chiang Mai with lots of local areas and street food. 7-11 is a 5 minute walk, KFC 7 minutes and night market 15 minutes. Tuktuks are 80 baht to night market, 100 to centre of town, 120 to big shopping centre. If they want more walk away. Very mixed. Price is great, if you know what your getting 're condo, location it's a good deal. It's not a hotel and you will not get same cleaning or staff attention (basic English).

Horror!

When we arrived at this hotel we encountered that this hotel advertised false information and pictures. What they promised and showed in their pictures was completely false but the worst was one of their managers/owner he never did want to tell us his position got in my face and started yelling at me, while shaking and turning red. After asking him many times to please lower his voice because we had an 8 and 10 year old with us he refused the atmosphere became unsafe he looked like he was going to hit me therefore we chose to leave since we didn't feel safe. This is the biggest disrespect and worst customer service I have ever recieved. I am a female that is only 5'1 this man was around 6'6 and still felt the need to yell at me in the most grotesque manner only because I asked to be moved from a room that didn't meet up to its advertisement not even 50% and the air conditioner wasn't working properly. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone! Even the staff there was scared of him!

Wouldn't stay there again

The room was cleaned and was cleaned well three times in the eight days we were there. The bed was too hard, we were unable to sleep well. The biggest frustration was the desk staff. They could handle registration, selling items from their boutique, taking in laundry, etc. However, they couldn't hand ANY problems. Something as simple as "we're out of toilet paper" required a call to the owner.

A good deal

The Galare Thong is an apartment block with some rooms rented out on a hotel basis. Because of this, the facilities are good with kitchen, microwave, kettle etc. The standard varies from room to room because they are individually owned but the rooms I have stayed in have been clean and well equipped but in need of some updating. The standard rooms are a reasonable size but the superior rooms are much bigger with better balconies and views. The location is out of town and quiet but it's easy to get into the city centre by car or tuk tuk. For the price you pay it's a good deal for a short or long stay. I've stopped here twice and will stay again.

Do not get the standard room

Stay there for five nights, the first night was in standard room, not nice at all. Upgraded to superior room for four nights, worth it! Way better than standard room, with a real kitchen, bigger bed, newer furniture, nice view, bigger and cleaner bathtub.... We will come back and stay longer if we are back to Chiangmai and planning to stay in a budget place.
