This adorable home has been a super popular Vacation Home for years, previously known as “Flew the Coop”. Tucked on a quiet street in Piney Island, which happens to be the closest community to Assateague National Seashore, you can ride your bike or even walk to the Beach!

Whether your pleasure is searching for our famous Wild Ponies, shell combing, climbing the Lighthouse, or just chillaxing, this is the place to be. Did you know that Assateague National Seashore is the most visited National Park in our country? Spend a little time here and you will discover why this is.....

Now let us tell you a little about ‘Happy Hideaway’, and we will lead with, you’ll never want to leave this adorable Chincoteague Cottage. As you pull down Oak Drive, Happy Hideaway, adorned in red, boldly welcomes you to Piney Island. Surrounded by whispering Oaks, just imagine sitting on the Porch feeling that sea breeze while listening to the Tree Frogs sing. Upon entering, you will find Happy Hideaway to be every bit as captivating with bold blues, distressed wood, and a fabulous beach decor.

You’ll love kicking back in the Living Area after exploring Assateague, and enjoying Free WiFi and Flat Screen Streaming TV. The Open Layout is perfect for spending time together without ever feeling crowded. Prepare family meals easily in the Well-Stocked Kitchen - grill the Fresh Catch of the Day on the Charcoal Grill, or just grab a quick bite before hitting the Beach. With Stainless Appliances and a Farmhouse Sink, mealtime will be a bay breeze. Not one to cook on Vacation? You can stroll to several of our most popular dining venues including Famous Pizza, Woody’s Barbecue, and Lily’s Little Mexico - yum! When the time comes to enjoy some Fresh Local Crabs, the huge Screened Porch at Happy Hideaway is the place to be. With plenty of seating for everything from dining Al-Fresco to relaxing and sharing stories of the day’s adventures, you’ll love an evening spent there under the beachy white lights.

Happy Hideaway sleeps 8 more than comfortably in 3 Bedrooms and 2 Full Baths. The Master Bedroom with a Queen Bed is beyond charming with Rustic Barn Doors, cool grays, and crisp whites. The Private Master Bath currently has a Claw Foot Tub, but will have a Brand New Tub/Shower Combo for Summer 2022! On the other side of the house, you’ll find 2 more Bedrooms and another Full Bath. Full Bath 2 currently has a Walk-in Shower, but will also have a Brand New Tub/Shower Combo for Summer 2022! Bedroom 2 has colors of sea glass, a comfy Queen Bed, and another Flat Screen Streaming TV. Right next door, Bedroom 3 is perfect for the kiddos with 2 sets of Twin Bunkbeds (4 Twin Beds), and a fun tropical theme. Speaking of the kiddos, did we mention that Maui Jack’s Waterpark is a short walk away?

Piney Island is the epitome of peaceful bliss - this wonderful community has quiet, tree-lined streets perfect for long walks in the morning. There is even a Natural Kayak Launch just around the bend, so bring your kayaks or rent some for your stay! If you’re looking to forget the real world - just for a little while - Happy Hideaway is the place for you.

My little family and I loved our time here! The home is in such a great location and is very well arranged. I loved the huge kitchen that had so much counter space. The screened in porch on the back was so charming and comfortable we spent every evening out there. The location again was so perfect as it was only a 10 minute or so drive to the beautiful beach and within walking distance of shops and the water park. I would only suggest you bring bug spray as the mosquitos were ready to go! 10/10, we will be back!

Girlfriend Getaway

A group of five girlfriends stayed at this lovely house together for a 40th birthday celebration! Our first trip together in years since we all had children it was the perfect getaway with an amazing screened in porch for coffee, dinner and games. Super clean facility, well stocked and great communication from the property managers. We will absolutely come back!

Seafood Festival Weekend

My husband and I have been coming to Chincoteague for the seafood festival for the last 10 years. This is the first year with our 2 young kids and we are so happy we found this house. It was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed including plenty of toys and books for the kids. The screened in porch offered relaxing nights playing card games and enjoying the beautiful weather we had. We plan to book this house again next year!

Perfect location

Visited Chincoteague with my family. The location was perfect - super close to the national wildlife refuge and other small shops. Place was overall clean and nicely furnished - the patio furniture could use a cleaning. The closets and living room cabinets were stocked with children’s books and toys. Remember to bring your own toiletries (shampoo/soap/etc).

Amazing family vacation

This property was well stocked with tons of kid friendly amenities and everything a family would need for a week long vacation. Our kids never even turned the tv on they had plenty of toys and books and games. We cooked 3 meals a day for 6 of the days and did not need anything but ingredients. Great place to stay!

Lovely spot

We really enjoyed this “happy hideaway.” It was as described and the perfect size for our family of 5. The kids toys were a huge plus, the beds were comfortable, and the covered patio was lovely. The hosts let us reschedule when our initial trip was soured by a tropical storm. Check in and out was easy. We would definitely stay again!

Very nice house

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was beautiful and they even had toys available for the kids. The room with the bunk beds did get really cold at night so if you go during the colder months you might want to pack warmer pjs or extra blankets. Overall the house was really nice and the neighborhood was very peaceful.

Beautiful Property with a Great Location

The property was very beautiful with a great location. Be aware that toiletries are not provided except for a starter supply and linens must be rented. (We brought our own linens, dish towels, paper towels, trash bags, etc., because we didn't know how much the starter supply would contain), but the property itself is very nice!

The property was in the perfect location. Close to everything and on a quiet street. The property was clean and adorable. After a day of exploring, an evening of comfort was highly desired. A gas grill and comfortable furniture would have put this property over the top.

Lovely property

The house was lovely and nicely furnished and supplied. The wooded location was very pleasant and we enjoyed spending time on the screened porch. It was a short walk to a bike rental place. One possible problem was that we had some bug bites which seemed to have been gotten in the house, but I think they inspected after we left. Overall an enjoyable stay.

An excellent get away especially for porch people

Small little cottage with a very nice screened in patio that we used extensively. On our first morning we awoke to find deer grazing in the backyard and watched them while we had our coffee. The screens door itself needed fixing but the house was nicely updated recently. Good location in a "residential" area (mostly other rentals with some locals) that you could walk to the bike rental from. Close to the kids water park and a few food places but a car or bike is definitely recommended for getting around. Paying extra for linens is hassle but not so expensive to not be worth your time. Bring laundry detergent and dishwasher tabs but otherwise the home is well stocked.

This house is a perfect getaway for a couple, a family with children, or up to 4 adults. Perfect amenities, cute seaside decor, and an unbeatable location. The screened back porch is the key feature for hangouts and games. Large eat in kitchen is convenient and homey. Would absolutely stay again!

Very comfortable for family of 5 and more.

Beautiful home and within walking distance to activities, biking on the main streets and restaurants. Check in process and communication was seamless. We had 5 of us, my mom, myself and three adult kids ages 21, 20 and 16. The bunk beds were perfect for them as it is difficult to find comfortable sleeping arrangements for us with out paying a fortune. House was spotless and smelled fresh and was very impressed with the new decor. Washer and dryer provided. We had breakfast and sat on the screened porch to relax while we thought about what we were going to do that day. Ended up at the beach 2 days in a row, was able to enjoy the beach as the waters were comfortable and blue, setting is absolutely beautiful and my adult kids had fun gathering seashells and relaxing in the sun. We didn't get a chance to go crabbing as planned but hopefully next time soon and will definitely look for this home again or others provided by seaside vacations. Linens provided for extra fee but they are worth it for the price of the stay.

Relaxing and clean!

Fully stocked and cute vacation home. Books and toys for the kids and wine glasses for the adults. Games for the whole family. Updated showers have great water pressure and the beds are comfy. Well decorated with books, homey decor, and cute porch lights. Property Managers were very responsive to our communication. Nothing major and they were still on top of it. Quiet neighborhood. Saw some deer and squirrels. And those lovely mosquitoes. Hope to be back!
