Casita Lodge is a cosy place for two to spend a few days together. There’s a private hot tub, a log burner and space to make yourselves comfortable. You’ll find us in a peaceful square opposite St John’s Church, on the edge of town in the Forest of Dean.
Perhaps you’re celebrating a birthday or anniversary. Or you’ve finally found a few days when you can both get away. Whatever brings you here, we want you to feel welcome from the moment you arrive.
Have a leisurely breakfast before heading out for a woodland walk. Stop somewhere lovely for lunch or take a picnic and find a view. There’s plenty to explore in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. And when you’ve had enough exploring, come back for a soak and an evening with your feet up.
INSIDE CASITA LODGE
The open-plan living space is somewhere to settle in. Put the kettle on, unpack your favourite snacks and pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read. There’s a Smart TV for a film together and a fleece blanket for curling up on the sofa. Wi-Fi is provided too.
On cooler evenings, light the log burner and enjoy its warm glow. You might spend the whole day out. Or you might fancy coming back early and getting comfortable.
The well-equipped kitchen overlooks the enclosed courtyard garden. Make breakfast before heading out or cook something together when you return. There’s a dining space where you can sit down and take your time over a meal. It’s also a good spot to spread out a map and choose tomorrow’s walk.
Soft linens and dimmable lighting make the bedroom a restful place to end the day. The en-suite has a rain-head shower for freshening up after exploring or getting ready for dinner out.
YOUR COURTYARD GARDEN AND PRIVATE HOT TUB
Take your morning coffee into the enclosed courtyard garden. Sit for a while before heading out or enjoy something from the BBQ later in the day.
Your private hot tub will be prepared ready for your arrival. After a day on the forest paths, slip into the warm water and give your legs a rest. On a clear evening, look up and see how many stars you can spot.
The courtyard has high fencing all the way around, with additional screening beside the hot tub. The gate has a bolt on the inside and a key safe lock on the outside. It’s a lovely spot for a morning cuppa or an evening soak beneath the stars.
IF YOU’RE CELEBRATING
Coming for a birthday or anniversary? Let us know when you book. We love hearing what brings our guests to Casita and helping you plan a stay you’ll enjoy.
You might fancy a special meal out or a day exploring somewhere new. Or perhaps a slow morning and an evening in the hot tub sounds just right.
EXPLORE THE FOREST OF DEAN AND WYE VALLEY
The main woodland areas are around a five-minute drive from Casita. Head beneath the trees for a leisurely wander or choose a longer route and make a day of it.
Follow a lakeside path, take a picnic or pause at a viewpoint. The Forest changes with the seasons. There’s fresh spring growth, summer shade and plenty of autumn colour to enjoy.
If you like an active day out, try cycling, mountain biking or canoeing. For a slower afternoon, explore a heritage railway or browse local crafts. There are also mines, caves and nature reserves to discover.
The Wye Valley is lovely for riverside walks and views. Choose somewhere for lunch along the way and leave time for a few stops.
You don’t need to fit everything into one visit. Pick the things you’d enjoy and see where the day takes you.
EATING OUT, OR STAYING IN
A walk followed by a good lunch is a lovely way to spend a day here. You’ll find traditional pubs, cosy cafés and places for afternoon tea. There are restaurants for a birthday dinner or an evening when you fancy making an occasion of it.
If you’d rather stay in, cook something you both enjoy and settle down for the evening. There’s a lot to be said for supper in your slippers after a day outdoors.
FURTHER AFIELD
If you fancy a day beyond the Forest, explore the shops and cafés of Hereford or Cheltenham. Spend a day discovering Bristol or Cardiff. Or head into the Cotswolds for pretty villages and a leisurely lunch.
Then come back to Casita for a quiet evening and a soak in the hot tub.
GOOD TO KNOW
Casita is a dog-free stay for two, with a separate bedroom and en-suite shower room.
We strongly recommend bringing a car. A few places are within walking distance. Having your own transport makes it much easier to explore the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.
