This new area offers the visitor something very special indeed, with it's 180 degree sweep of the most sought after and uninterrupted scenery in Connemara. We are located right alongside tkhe Wild Atlantic Way where beautiful sandy beaches are nearby. Please note families and visiting couples welcome. "Familles françaises viennent juste de nous cette année comme d'habitude,
vous serez assuré d'un accueil très spécial" The main bed is 4 ft. 6 ins, second 4 ft. and third 3 ft. Bed linen is the finest Egyptian brushed cotton. The sitting room is very spacious with traditional vaulted ceiling and log burning stove. This room is just so " COSY " The new dining table seats a family of 6 / 8 in comfort. Dining has been relocated to the Studio Room for 2016. Velux Roof windows fjitted in Cathedral Style roofs make for a very bright airy relaxing space. The kitchen is also restructured & is completely fitted out with all modern facilities, whilst the entrance porch is large & accommodating with antique Singer Sewing Machine !!. The bathroom is complete with WC, power shower/bath etc.
The Utility Room now adjoins the existing bathroom and includes sink, washing machine, dishwasher, cloakroom, airing cupboard +++
We have made some exciting alterations for 2025, do please enjoy.
The interior has a French touch without losing any of it's local character. All original cottage windows have interior three sectioned hand crafted wooden shutters with Linen and Lace curtaining.
Interior, exposed timber flooring, fully insulated, traditionally nailed, with scatter hand crafted rugs complete the picture. This is the real deal, special in every way.
The home is maintained in spotless condition. The heating system is oil fired boiler to radiators, zoned, with total control over heating & hot water.
Continued: 2025.
ECO ' Cuach Cottage ' Truly an outstanding traditional family owned Connemara Cottage. Dwelling is a delight to vacation in. Lovingly restored and looked after by Liam and Marian.
Away from it all, yet within easy access / walking distance to the finest eating establishments. Superior shopping is available in Clifden, the capital of Connemara.
The cottage has interesting internal items & build details, ie, 3 ft thick walls vernacular 100 yrs old.
Set on 4 acres of gardens, [16,000 sq. mtrs.] and fenced paddocks is approached by way of a 100 mtr. driveway sets the scene, all natural terrain of course.

Knock Airport. Knock is approx 120 mins. drive to Cuach Cottage.
Interesting 'Cuach Cottage': Constructed from local stone using local skills and dry bedding technique. Some internal walls are 3 ft. wide whilst others are 2 ft.
It has a conventional pitched slated roof which is now highly insulated.
To the rear, their remains the shell of a stone constructed sheep's pen. Livestock would have been housed close to the dwelling back in the day.
Al Fresco Dining: To the rear of the cottage is an elevated 8 seater outdoor dining set. Set upon a traditional pebbled and fenced patio area. BBQ here on a summer's day and you are in heaven, beautiful fresh water river running alongside, 12 Ben Mountain range so close you feel you could touch them, natural lake land and Connemara terrain right in front of you. Your outstanding views are not obstructed !! To the front of the cottage we have located a 6 seater dining bench. This offers the visitor a choice of 2 outdoor dining locations. Best of both worlds, as the sun moves from East to West. Located in the garden and beside the fresh water river is a 3 seater hand made bench where one can while away some hours, reading, sketching or indeed just taking in the scenery.
Inside the traditional fireplace is 'inglenook' type, however, this has been converted to suit a wood burning stove. In days gone by all family meals were cooked over this hearth.
Local harvested turf was the common source of fuel . The fire would sit directly on the floor in traditional manner using all the skills necessary to maintain it, lighting 24 hours per day. Most homesteads had their own plot of bog land. Plots till exist to this day alongside.
We have installed a hand crafted entrance door, 1/2 by 1/2 last year made by a local craftsman, thanks Pat.
Interior fixtures, some from Count De Vesci's estate in Laois are present in 'Cuach Cottage'
