It was a very nice stay. They were super busy due to a local festival but they were friendly and very helpful. It is an older building so pack light as there are lots of stairs but we did enjoy our stay and the dogs was very good.

Warm, Welcoming and Clean

Every where in the hotel was very clean and well presented, the dining room was spacious and comfortable, breakfasts were amazing. The bar was also good and although we didn't eat the food looked good. The hotel and bar are very dog friendly. Everyone was warm and welcoming, we really enjoyed our stay. If in the area we would definitely stay here again

Owner was awesome. Cool old property in the middle of town. Had a fantastic dinner in the adjacent pub. Order the Cullen Skink. Our room was facing the street and the logging trucks woke us up several times in the night, my only complaint.

Very friendly and helpful owner. The property is old but well maintained and updated. Had a remarkable dinner in the adjacent pub, the Cullen Skink was incredible. Our room faced the road so there was a good amount of noise from trucks in the middle of the night. Other than that, wonderful stay.

This is an older but comfortable hotel which we thought was good value for money. We did not take the full breakfast, but chose scrambled eggs, which was a generous portion. At the front of the hotel on a hot night, we had the window (new double-glazed) open, which brought some traffic noise, but not enough to disturb us. The bar and restaurant are adjacent and reasonably priced. I tried Cullen Skink (smoked haddock in potato broth) for the first time ever, and it was excellent. There is plenty of outdoor seating for summer weather.

Nicely set up bathroom with full size tub and hot water. Only complaint was the 2mm turn of tap difference between scalding hot and ice cold😂Not a problem for bath but dicey for shower. Corner room with 3 windows so good ventilation but a bit noisy as on the high street. Food in pub was excellent with the best Cullen Skink I've tasted

We had a great stay here recently. We stayed in Room 4 which is a tad unusual as it has no window in the main area. There is a window in the bathroom so you can have natural light provided the door is open. Not a problem for us tbh as the room was completely dark overnight. The room is quite basic with a small TV and a double bed (at home we have a king size, so it was smaller than we are used to). It was spotlessly clean. We had a good meal in the bar, a couple of drinks which was competitively priced. Service was excellent and friendly. Pooch was made welcome too. Breakfast was also really good although the sausage was a little bland and at odds with the quality of the bacon and black pudding. Once again our dog was allowed in the restaurant area too. So to conclude: an excellent stopover that is very dog friendly, lovely staff, good food and a reasonably comfy room all for ÂŁ75. We would stay again when in the area. Thanks

A border crossing

When I arrived I was told that half the cost had not been taken ( dating back to February 2025 ) and I would need to pay the full amount. my paperwork showed that the half cost had been taken. i had no option, I paid. Checking will follow. As for the room, very poor. Shower head missing. Hot water delivery just about nil. Water from the basic came up back through bath waste pipe. Too risky to have a bath. room on third floor up a tight spiral staircase with doors propped open with fire extinguishers. room was for small people as doorways were only 5-10' (178 cm.) The very strong positive, the food! Reasonably good choice, good / large portions all well cooked and presented at a fair price. Hearty breakfast included in the price I paid. the bar is lively with some quiet corners

Town of Coldstream

Solo trip, good check in, free parking, lovely secure room. Good facilities tea coffee etc. comfortable bed, good shower. A quiet night, a lovely full breakfast.
