The room was good. But accessing the hotel was quite difficult. At arrival, the doors were locked. I didn’t have access codes and in the app, it appeared as if I did not have a reservation. I stood out in the freezing cold for a while trying to figure out which number to contact. At the end, it all worked out, but not the best experience, certainly not a pleasant one.

Positiv: Das Zimmer ist sehr geräumig und man hat Platz. Frühstück war ok aber auch nichts Besonderes. Negativ: Beim Betreten des Zimmers fiel uns ein ziemlich großes "Loch" an der Wand auf, an welcher der Putz sich gelöst hatte, an einer weiteren Stelle war ebenfalls die Wand beschädigt. Eines der Betten hatte ein am Rand verschmutztes Bettlaken, die Decke des Schlafsofas war stärker verschmutzt. Die Dusche war stark verkalkt (leider nicht nur ein paar Ränder) Fugen teilweise schwarz. Noch nicht das Level "Badeschlappen an" aber auch nicht weit weg davon. Toilettensitz war verfärbt - alles in allem klar enttäuschend. Geruch im Flur erinnerte an eine Raucherkneipe am Morgen.

Very comfortable and clean room, very spacious and great bathroom with a lovely shower. Fairly easy to get to Köln city centre 5-10 minute walk to the nearest shuttle and 20 minutes to the centre on the tube. Overall a great stay.

Inconsistent Treatment at the Palast

This is obviously a hotel aimed at business customers, which is fine. The room was comfortable, though the fittings in the bathroom had not been the best maintained. The receptionist was very helpful when we arrived. We were disappointed at the first breakfast we booked. I ate a normal breakfast, though never have a hot drink. My wife joined me later and had only a cup of tea. The staff at the hotel insisted that we had consumed two breakfasts and charged €15 each. Our argument that my wife could have had a free cup of the same tea in the room was completely ignored. The member of staff rudely insisted that we paid for two breakfasts. We therefore went to a local bakery for our breakfast the next day, which was cheaper for us and the hotel lost the potential breakfast charge. A shame.
