Communication and check-in was smooth. The location of the house was great, in a nice community, although renting a golf cart is a must for going to the beach as it is quite a walk. The house itself needs some work. Several things were in poor condition and dirty. The shower floor is duct taped, there was still grease on baking pans, dust and dirt on furniture and the walls and dead bugs laying on the floor. The kitchen lacked basic necessities like pot holders and was very small. The stairs and open railings are not a good fit for small children, they did have some baby gates but they were extremely dirty.
The property was nice , however the parking is not the greatest and the house smelled like pet urine. The master bedroom sheets did not smell fresh and there was a lot of pet hair around the baseboards throughout the home. The back door to the patio was hard to open and close. The overall home was clean but not the cleanest. 10 days after my stay I was charged 150 for a unknown fee. I called and emailed the Port A housing to determine why the extra charge. The closing rules were followed during our departure. I would not stay at this home again.
property has no Wi-Fi. We called the Internet service provider and they said that the owners of the property donât pay their bills and havenât had Wi-Fi. The management company lied and said that there was an outage in the island which we confirmed there wasnât. All of the dishes and the glasses were put away dirty in the cabinets. The floors were not mopped, and it was very dusty and unkept. On the advertisement, it looked more modern. This place was out of date and smelled very badly and despite calling several times for help with Internet, so my husband and I could get on our required work calls. No one ever called us back.
A family of four plus 3 grandparents wanted a weekend away from the rat race for the birthday of the mother. This property was located so close to the beach yet still in the reach of a short drive to Port A restaurants and shopping districts. The neighborhood was also quiet at night an allowed for ample rest for the smaller children. The house was roomy a d very clean. Check in an out was fast and efficient. We would stay here again.
Staff who manages the phone line is very nice and attentive. They answered all my questions ahead of time during their business hours and answered emails promptly.
My rating on check in process was low because our code to get in did not work when we arrived (~8pm) and we had to wait about 20-25 min to get in touch with someone who could resolve the issue. We had to call several times to get someone on the phone, but once we did reach someone it was quickly resolved and we were able to get it. The code they gave us was not properly set up so they had to give us a master code. The next day they came to fix it onsite.
Make sure if you rent this property to bring trash bags and a couple extra rolls of TP as they only have enough for about 2 days available with full occupancy. An extra rag to wipe things would have been very handy. Bathrooms did not have floor mats. They had nonslip shower mats only.
They don't allow to take towels to the beach so bring your own as well.
The stairs walking up to the kitchen seemed a bit hazardous to me as they are right on the walkway and have the same tile so it blends with the step and it made me nervous for the kids and adults who might not pay attention they are too close to the step. I had to warn our boys more than once when they were playing with their backs to the stairs.
We definitely would rent a golf cart next time, beach is "walking distance" but hauling stuff and kids in the heat isn't fun. We drove our cars to the bridge over the dunes to park and shorten our walk.
The kitchen for a house this size is smaller than desired, if you have more than one person prepping food it gets tight.
House was clean, pantry was stocked with a lot of food items such as condiments, oil so bringing your own might not be needed.
The home has a nice view of the pond and balconies to enjoy.
We definitely enjoyed our stay overall.
Been renting homes in Royal Sands for annual fishing trip with my 3 grown sons for over 10 years. Community has been well maintained. Rented Villa Laguna several times. Have rented other homes in Royal Sands, but # of listings has declined. Villa Laguna has been the best house available for what we need at this price. Fees adequately disclosed, but represent significant portion of total costs.
The location was great. Nice neighborhood and beach access. The cleanliness was not what I expected. The couches were wet and had them covered in sand. Stains on the couches. Our beds also had sand and hair from previous guest. I had to clean this home myself as soon as we walked in. This is the first bad experience I had in renting a home in Port Aransas and will not return to this home again.
Aside from the lack of cleanliness (dirty towel, dead bugs in the wind sills, cobwebs, dirty floors and counters) the coffee pot handle literally feel apart in a family memberâs hand and spilled hot coffee on her. Then, we attempted to open a window and the window slammed down so hard. Luckily, no one had their hand near the window sill. Very disappointed, especially since it rained 2 out of 3 days we stayed and spent a lot of time indoors.
*Note-I did not call the property manager. Normally we rent 4 hotel rooms for our annual trip to Port A, but due to COVID we decided to rent a house. I figured it would be safer for our family. Luckily I brought disinfectants because this house was filthy. When we first walked in it looked great but after 5 minutes of getting situated I realized I would be doing more than wiping door knobs, counters, sinks and toilets. My grandchildren who are crawling age had black knees and hands within minutes of crawling around. The floors were vacuumed at by whoever the cleaning team was but definitely had not seen a mop or steamer. I say vacuumed at because there was dog hair in every corner. Speaking of dog hair, I sat on the edge of the bed in the master bedroom, when I got up my black capris were almost white from the amount of dog hair on the comforter. Needless to say all bedding was removed and we used the bedding we brought from home. Iâm a dog lover and have 3 living in my home but itâs rare to see fur because I vacuum daily. As for the kitchen, I had to wash every dish before using because of old food particles. And the dining table was gross, the white rag I used was almost black after the first wipe. I could go on but Iâll end with this. That house was filthy when we arrived and clean enough for the next renter to enjoy when we left. I enjoyed having all my kids under one roof but will not rent this house or from this company again.
Our overall impression of the property was very good. We were vacationing with our Daughter and son-in-law, son, and our 6 grandchildren. The kids and adults all had a terrific time, this is our yearly trip to Port A. The house met our expectations, a little tough for us "old folks" to negotiate all the stairs, but no problem at all for the grandkids. Will consider this property again.
Such a great house! Loved the big open doors overlooking the pond, and it has tons of space. Walkable to the beach but be aware lots of steps on the boardwalk which makes strollers or wagons tricky. The neighborhood is super nice for evening walks with kids/dogs/etc. Only real negative was the mattresses were pretty bad, but I suppose to be expected for a rental.
