Really appreciated the easy river access and outdoor seating for sunny days! All the water playthings were used and enjoyed. Large indoor spaces for gathering/dining worked well for us. Variety of kitchen equipment helped us, including outdoor barbecue. Additional sleeping space across breezeway worked great for 4 grandsons. Comfortable beds in main house.Wonderful and memorable trip! Glad we could share the special environment of Smith River and Redwoods with our extended family!Good to see the Hiouchi Cafe has upgraded in the last few yearsâŠ
Beautiful property!!! Worked well for our family! Very relaxing and had the best stocked kitchen I have ever stayed at! I brought extra pots and pans and didnât even need them! Beds were very comfortable and the whole property was very clean! Stayed with my family and in-laws. I recommend this property.
Iâve stayed in many vacation rentals. None are perfect but most all of them show the owner cares for details or upkeep. This one absolutely not! Looked nothing like the pictures. Run down! Looks and feels like someoneâs grandmother left it to them in 1980 and done nothing with it since except throw it up on VRBO. Appliances didnât work. Stairs to river completely overgrown. Very unsafe! Green algae all over the outside of the house. Weeds all in the beds. Completely broken grass Couldnât use the pots they were so old the teflon got in our food. Chairs around the table broken. Only midgets could use the master shower. Kitchen cupboards probably never cleaned out. Completely unorganized. Doors coming apart. I can keep going⊠We actually left early it was so bad. Probably nice in its day but definitely not now.
We LOVED our time here. Honestly, absolutely the perfect kid and family friendly home.We couldnât have asked for a better vacation. This home/area has it all! We kayaked the Smith river, saw river otters, caught frogs, fish, and were able to explore the redwoods only a few minutes from the house! We also went to the beach and went crabbing off the pier in Crescent City and toured Ocean World. We attended a farmerâs market, the cheese store, SeaQuake brewery, and the Chart House restaurant as well. (The kids enjoyed the park right on the beach too.)We also ventured up the coast, less than 30 min drive, and went to Brookings to get fresh seafood and check out the beach there.Every night weâd come back to the house, and relax outside -listening to the frogs and enjoying a glass of wine. We even made sâmores over the firepit one night! We were able to jam so many activities into our week long stay. My 7 year old daughter actually cried when I told her we were heading home on our last day. She said this was her favorite vacation yet! Thank you for everything! The home and amenities were just outstanding.
The property was right where we needed to stay for our visit to the Redwoods, but we felt it was a little run down and needed electrical updates/repairs. Water pressure was sub-par for bathing/showering. The path down to the river's edge was overgrown and difficult to traverse.
Great place to stay when in that part of beautiful Northern California. Wonderful patio set up with views of the Smith River. Lots of room and well set up for guests.
Property was nice. House could use some updates. Master shower is very small, the bed isnt comfy and the door is coming off the hinges.
We spent most of our time at the park or outside and just needed somewhere to sleep and shower. Water pressure is lowwww. The kitchen was beautiful.
Rivers Edge has so much to offer. Smith River runs along the back of the property. The house has ample room, natural light and everything youâll need; and a separate suite with two beds, washer, dryer, fridge and its own little bathroom. Outdoor seating with a river view and a fire pit is an extra bonus. The property owners are great and very responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the property.
Our group was made up of 5 adults and 2 kids. The kids enjoyed having their âown houseâ where they got to stay up late with their aunt. We had quite an enjoyable stay and enjoyed our morning coffee with a river view and nights around the fire pit. The kitchen was well stocked, and the coffee maker was awesome. The house is in the perfect location for frequent trips to Jed Smith Park, hitting the swimming holes off the 199 in Gasquet, and trips to Brookings, Oregon. Our only complaint was the hot water pressure of both houses, it was very, very low. We have stayed here twice before and this was the only change from the previous times. Overall we had a lovely stay and thank you again to Bill & Erin for allowing us to stay in their lovely home.
This property is so amazing. My husband, myself, my brother and sister in law, and our six kiddos loved the location and set up. Everyone had plenty of space and privacy and the view of the river was amazing. The bird watching is amazing and we got to see (and swim with!) a family of otters! The fishing and swimming in the river was relaxing and fun. The location of the house is amazing; close to hiking and the ocean. The water pressure/temp in the showers was the only issue we ran into and wasnât that big of a deal for us. It was beautiful and enjoyable and we are so grateful we got to stay in this lovely home.
Perfect location to relax and beat the heat. Was disappointed with lack of water pressure to take a shower. Ended up just taking a tubs to get enough water. Master bed was not to comfortable and because we had extra room moved to the room across hall bed was great awesome comfortable sheets and pillows. Trail to the river could use some trimming.
Our stay was good! All amenities were provided by the host. The house needs some updates and a new well, it was impossible to shower and run any water amd we had 6 people. Other than that it was a great family vacation!
The view from the home was beautiful. The kids and adults enjoyed all the games (badminton) that are kept in the home. The neighborhood is peaceful and just a short drive from the Redwoods or the beach. We would definitely book this home again!
Our stay at Rivers Edge was wonderful. Close to the beaches, which my kids loved the most! Also, close to many beautiful hikes in the redwoods. Plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful view eating breakfast outside looking at the beautiful river. Lots of memories made. Thanks Erin and William!!
We had a great time during our stay. Home is in close proximity to Jed Smith State park, Brookings, OR, and Crescent City. Some type of critter got into the trash from the previous vacationers and it was strewn across the lawn when we arrived. The fury visitor struck again 3 more times during our stay, so I think a locking device for the trash is needed. Everything else was great, and we would love to stay again.
Canât beat the location! Loved the room with the two queen beds. The beds were very comfortable and it felt updated. It also had a tv and mini fridge. The owners went out of their way to provide everything we needed. The only thing I didnât realize from the post is that the outdoor fire pit described isnât for fire wood. Would stay again!
