We booked this property months in advance and added two extra nights because of a situation and no other options were available. It was not cleaned properlyâfloors felt dirty, bathroom had stains and foot marks, cabinets and knobs were dirty, and thick dust was present on fans and surfaces. AC vents were filthy, and no mop was provided to clean. The dock cleats were loose, bumpers were missing, and we had to tie our boat to a concrete table. Outdoor lights didnât work, power outlets on the terrace were loose and unsafe, dryer took long to dry, dirty oven, no hot water at washer. Towels provided were old and stainedâbrought my own. I sent the host photo evidence, and her response was dismissive, she called me ânitpicky.â She claimed she wouldâve sent a housekeeper, but I didnât come here to supervise cleaning during my vacationâI expected the home to be ready and clean. Bed sheets clean and bed comfortably. Good location. Host response : Well, isnât that why you came to go boating and I think youâre being very nitpicky but go ahead leave me whatever review and remember I will leave you a review as well. I was very accommodating to give you a very reduced rate to come a day early with your boat and also to let you stay another night. You never complained to me once while you were there, I wouldâve had my housekeeper come over and address any of your concerns.
First, you walk into the property through a bedroom. Stupid. The screen doors in the front and back kept falling off the tracks. 4 very old bath towels which meant washing constantly. The overall feel was that the place was old. Shower faucet in the one bathroom was ready to come off the wall. And the smell off the canal was the most disgusting smell - I canât even describe it.
I wasn't expecting a 140 resort fee due before proceeding past the gate guard. The gate guard's response to my puzzled look was, "You were aware of the resort fee, right?" The fee is likely (at least I hope) embedded in the TOS. Moving on. The property permits pets but walking one's dog is prohibited. The properties are so small that one must walk a dog. Knowing this property was on a canal with open water access, I was not surprised that it needed some TLC. I think, most folks rent this type of property for ocean activity, which would require near-constant TLC. We were permitted a late check-out. Thank you to the host.We would rent this property again.
Points lost for not a lot of necessary itemsOnly enough towels for 1 each, no spares The bed in the 2nd room was so high one guest couldnât get into it, so slept on the sofa, but there was only a spare sheet and no quilt There was only the toilet roll on the holder 1 more, in each bathroom, tiny bottle of dish soap, no dishwashing tabs, (packet was empty)Found 1 tide pod & 1 dryer sheet!! Other than that it was well equipped & clean
Has a nice seawall that can accomodate about a 30 foot boat. Cleaning station for fish was nice also. Actual house unit was older, but nice. We really just used it for cooking our fish and sleeping. The main perks of this place is that it has a seawall on a protected canal to keep a boat, has good channel access to both the oceanside and gulf, and is clean. Marina with boat fuel and boat ramp is in Venture Out neighborhood just a few hundred feet away from this actual unit. Overall a good time.
The location is amazing with lots of amenities. They have tennis courts, swimming pool right on The Atlantic ocean, a store on site, and many, many more and amenities. I found that the trailer we were in was comfortable, had a great AC just a little dated and needed a bit of maintenance. One thing I was not aware of nor was I told is that you could only have six people which means that your family cannot come into the facility to visit. This was very disappointing as we had family members on the same key just at another location. They couldnât even come in to go on our boat. Also, they were working on the seawall, so our days were filled with pounding of cement that they were extracting from the seawall all day long. We asked for a new location but didnât hear back from Jennifer. Communication initially was positive with her, but after I brought it to attention about the seawall, she told me she would get back to me the next day on a possible relocation, but but did not receive a notice back from her the rest of the week. The location was convenient for what we needed it for we were going to lobstering and then to Looe Key!
Starting with a good, the beds were clean and comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean.
But the house is sad. No one has done maintenance screens ripped chairs on the porch, broken no bath mats and outside of countertops. Everything is dusty. I wish I could show a picture of the air conditioning vent. It has years worth of dirt on it.
Overall, had a great time and the Venture Out organization had everything well organized. The unit was older but did what we expected when we weren't on the water. Trailer storage was not ideal, due to the 2 vehicle limit. A few missed spots in cleanliness. Overall a good place. We would stay again!
