The bungalow was a perfect base camp for exploring Culebra. Please note that most of the island restaurants are closed on Monday and Tuesday now since Covid, and some permanently. Seek out Dâs Garden for fruits and veggies and the Dingy Dock was awesome the night they were open. The Secret Garden could have used a hammock and more lights on the steps going down to the bungalow at night, but otherwise very nice. Make the drive out to Zoni Beach!
First, for most, the property is in a great location. It has everything you need. The bed and the sofa bed were so comfortable. The owner has everything you need in his kitchen. We had a blast! We will return. Thank you, Mike!
We didn't like this property as the advertisement was different than what we experienced when we arrived. I expected a fairly secluded property as the place on the map shows it abutting the preserve near the water. When I contacted the company to find the actual location, it was much different than the advertised location on the map. For the check-in procedures, they tell you not to go by google maps but use their directions. This seems deceptive to me. I guess we didn't look at the pics carefully enough to see that it is in a run down residential neighborhood. So, there are cats, roosters, dogs, parties, and people going about their business nearby and you can hear all of it. If this is your thing, than you should have no problems. We were looking for a quiet, breezy location near the water. I didn't expect this to be a small walk-out basement- so there is not much natural light inside. The kitchen outlets didn't work and there was no hot water for showers. Yeah, there were bugs, but there are bugs everywhere in Culebra. I was shocked to find out where the property actually was located, but by that time, refunds were not available and we were a couple days from check in. We only stayed there one night and then moved to another location because we couldn't stand it. Lost some money on that one. For the same amount of money, we stayed in two other places by the water that offered breezy morning and nights, glorious views, full kitchens with an oven, deck, and laundry. This was our first time here and I didn't know what was available. I wouldn't stay here again as this doesn't meet what we wanted. We like to be surrounded by nature, beach, open air so that we can listen to the sounds of nature. We tried to keep the windows and doors open on our first night, but you don't get a cross-breeze and we listened to cat fights, roosters, and people talking all night. So, the A/C came in handy that one night until we could find something else.
Pros: Michael was great and flexible with check in times (much appreciated). The place is neat inside and equipped like and efficiency hotel. It looks pretty new and was clean. The A/C worked well though we didn't use it most of the time and wanted the ocean breezes.
This property was great for 2 people, any more and it'd be pretty cramped but you could make it work. We did have some issues with insects but nothing that ruined the trip. Everything is updated and nice, some of the outlets on the counter didn't work but that wasn't a big deal. Pretty good spot overall.
