The village has a lovely choice of traditional pubs, cosy tearooms, and quirky shops. Spectacular Falkland Palace, beloved by Mary, Queen of Scots, has all the glory and splendour expected of a royal residence. Take time to wander round the extensive gardens and orchards and look out for the living willow labyrinth, the giant chess board and the worldâs oldest tennis court. If you thought your stay couldnât get any better, Falkland Estate is just a few minutes away where you can explore the many paths and tracks that run throughout 1900 hectares of land with routes through forest, past active farm land, over burns and to the summit of East Lomond.

Had lovely break in Ivy Cottage in the centre of Falkland.
Had lovely break in Ivy Cottage in the centre of Falkland. Cottage was cosy and well equipped with lots of nice touches. Falkland itself has a handful of shops/eating places (including a baker and deli) but only one pub open in evenings meantime. Falkland Palace is well worth a visit (11am opening - closes for season at some point in October). Good walking area - woods in Falkland Estate and surrounding hills for those seeking more challenge!

Everything was excellent, there was nothing to fault.
Everything was excellent, there was nothing to fault. Two suggestions a shower mat would be useful because the shower tray is slippery when wet And soapy. Also a hook in the shower room would be useful.

We were visiting Falkland and the local area as part of an ancestral tour.
We were visiting Falkland and the local area as part of an ancestral tour. This cottage was an ideal place for us to stay and indeed was very well appointed and equipped as well as being very comfortable. We had an issue with hot water one morning but this was very quickly dealt with by the owners, which we appreciated. Our only slight problem was that the beds were not made up as requested and we had to shunt them around on the first evening. However, that didn't mar the overall enjoyment of our stay.Local facilities were good and we would thoroughly recommend this cottage and its location
