Good hotel

Good, no tv in second bedroom though all the plugs there for it. Second bedroom windows look into public hallway, so it’s a very dark place. Hot water was restricted to just lukewarm, so impossible to have a hot shower or do dishes without boiling a jug. TVs were old and had channels there that weren’t paid for so unusable. Otherwise a quiet building that was adequate for a short stay.

Darwin, the Sun and Oaks Elan

Oaks Darwin Elan, 2 bedroom apartment was fully self contained, close to the CBD, and the wharf areas. We walked everywhere. Hotel staff very friendly, nothing too much trouble.

We were given an upgrade to an apartment with breakfast included. Really appreciate the upgrade - it made our holiday Hotel was older but reasonably well kept. Apartment was reasonably clean but attention to detail was missing e.g. the dishwasher door just needed a wipe over to get rid of the splashes, areas around light switches could have done with a wipe

Cafe and location were great. Bed and bedding were very comfortable. Carpark was not so great, could only park with orange signs- very limited, a total of 4 spots on level 2. On arrival, staff member was not really welcoming, I think he would rather been in bed. Opened our rooms sliding door to balcony and door handle fell off. It was fixed the following day. Ceiling fan dial falls off as well, over bed.

Nice place to stay

Very easy check in, although not a clear area to park and do this. Quick and well explained process including access to the car parking. Room was good, although a weird smell was in there and we needed to open the balcony door to get rid of the smell, this smell lingered whenever the room was left closed up. Air conditioning filters were clean so not sure what the smell was, spoke to the lady at reception and it was noted. The room itself was great, good space and comfortable. The bathroom was small, but the bonus of the washing machine and dryer suited us. The water pressure and heat from the shower was very average. The biggest gripe for us was no drawers to pack away our stuff. The wardrobe suited us but not having any drawers was a tad annoying. The view from the room to watch the sunrise was great and we enjoyed the espresso machine in the room. Breakfast at the hotel was average.

Air-conditioning wasn't working efficiently and starting leaking water. The maintenance person came into the room but didn't fix the problem so we put a towel on the ground for the night to catch the water.
