Hummingbirds love the area in the summertime. Hummingbirds with their high-pitched whine, frequent the property. They love to sit on the dead limbs of the huge Douglas Fir just west of the deck. Hummingbirds also love to dive bomb for insects in the area. "Hummers" as they are affectionately called are usually in the Colorado mountains from around April-May to September 15. Here is the recipe for making hummingbird nectar and replace it often to keep them coming back, of which they can get very protective: - Mix 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar in a pan. For example, use 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water. - Bring to a boil then remove from the heat. - Cover and allow to cool before using or pouring into the storage bottle.
The entire 3+ acres and the private home is all yours! Rex's office, the shed, and the campers are the only places that are locked and off limits.

Fantastic property in convenient location with the most amazing views from the patio deck!! This spacious, unique home is perfect for groups or families that are looking for a relaxing stay in the mountains. The host was very easy to contact and responsive. We would rebook in a heartbeat. Five stars!
We had a wonderful stay at this house. It was spacious and the views were unbeatable. House was very clean, felt homey, and was comfortable. Close to numerous towns and hiking trails. Great vacation!
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The home was clean and well stocked. The views are gorgeous. It was easy to get to Rocky Mountain National Park and the Red Rock Amphitheatre. My husband went fly fishing most days.Communication between myself and Rex was informative and timely.
Our family loves to find unique vacation rentals and Quartz Mountain Ranch was absolutely perfect for us. Our kids (8, 6, and 18 months) were enchanted by all the outdoor space they could explore. I'd say the pictures almost don't do the place justice. It's BETTER in person. Aside from the breathtaking mountain views, the beds were very comfortable, the house was well stocked with kitchen and toiletry items, and check in and out was a breeze. We appreciated how everything in the house is designed to spotlight the mountains. It was such a nice touch. Rex and Michele have curated so much helpful information, from how to guides around the house to recommendations on restaurants and activities. We had some spring snow the first day we arrived and Rex even provided all the details we might have needed to prepare and stay safe. Last, but certainly not least, the rock climbing wall in the basement was truly special. Watching our older kid's faces when they made it to the top and rang the bell the first time was a special memory we won't soon forgot!
A breath taking view meets with a magical living area to make a vrbo experience unparalleled by any place Iâve been. I loved this house! The interior is full of life, has a nice piano, and is very spacious. The deck is amazing! I want to go back!
This place is a Wonderland. Breath taking views. Beautiful cabin. This is a perfect property to detach from everything. Close to towns and Ski resort. Property owner went above and beyond to assist us with anything we needed including a list of favorite spots and things to do. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is provided, including sleds. Highly recommend the Hot Tub at night under the stars.
Our group of 6 stayed for five days during August and couldnât have asked for a better setting for our vacation. Lord of the rings signs/lore across the property fed the imagination and on our last day we watched the first three films, which of course, they have a dvd box set. Two from our group got engaged while we stayed here which really had us feeling like a tru fellowship of the ring! The property is beautiful and a must stay for LOTR nerds alike. Not only does the property offer great views but it is located within a hour of some great hiking trails! Check in was a breeze and the owner is respectful and easy to communicate with.
Although it rained nightly, the ground sucks up the moisture very quickly. please follow local fire guidelines. It got very windy, so be sure to follow the owners guidelines on securing outdoor furniture/appliances (This property must be protected)
Rex and hosts were awesome at communicating, everything about the place was lovely and clean, and the kitchen was full of great amenities. The beds were comfortable too! Five star!
The home was exactly as the pictures showed it. The home was immaculately clean, spacious, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a get away..
My family stayed here for 5 days. Every day was an enjoyment for us. Great house, lots of room for the whole family. Hosts were great. Was very sorry to leave. Highly Recommend ! ! !
We celebrated our parentâs 50th anniversary here. It was my parents first time visiting Colorado and we wanted to make it a memorable celebration. This property offered amazing views and my parents enjoyed waking up to the breathtaking views of the mountains. This home offered privacy, plenty of space, and many fun memories that we will always cherish.
Perfect mountain getaway for families. Lots for families to do on site at the vrbo and close to Boulder, Golden, Broomfield for some fun day adventures. Lots of hiking in area too. Especially loved the little coffee shop at the end of the road. Would recommend and stay again.
The property is located close to Boulder and Golden, but far enough up into the mountains that you get a chance to really experience the beauty of nature. Lots of activities at the house to keep the family entertained when not off exploring the surrounding areas. The house is also situated close to excellent areas for rock climbing and hiking if your group is interested, which ours was. We would highly recommend this property, especially if you are traveling with a group.
We traveled to Colorado for a convention. However, we wanted somewhere in between Denver and Vail Pass for snowmobiling. This property exceeded our expectations! Its three floor layout was great for our group of 7 adults. An abundance of bedrooms and bathrooms made this property extremely comfortable. The view is outstanding from many rooms in the house. Rex was very nice and kept us updated with potential snow storms. I had issues with my registration due to a typo in my email. Therefore, prior to even arriving to Colorado. Rex went above and beyond to ensure I was getting the needed information for our stay. Overall this has been one of the most outstanding houses we have stayed in! Highly recommended!
One of the most peaceful and enjoyable vacation destinations ever. Beautiful property with breathtaking views packed full of activities and never a dull moment. Great location close to many hiking trails. Will definitely book again in the future.
We enjoyed our stay at Quartz Mountain Ranch which overlooks the Rocky Mountains. The windows and furnishings are well placed to sit and enjoy amazing views from the warmth of the house. Both decks include comfortable seating for taking in the views when the weather allows. The house is spacious with many places for quiet and for conversation, depending on your preference. There are plenty of cooking supplies in the large and lovely kitchen, which accommodates several cooks as well as spectators at the counter.
There are three stories with the main level in the middle and the bedrooms on the first and third levels. The bottom floor also has a sitting area and deck, as does the main level. Guests should be aware there are stairs to navigate from the main level to the bedrooms.
The owner was available through text and phone to answer questions and help us navigate the roads and weather. Instructions for the stay were also posted in the house.
We enjoyed our stay at Quartz Mountain Ranch!
