Upon arriving at the house for my 1st vacation in 3 years, we were greeted with a water disconnect notice due to non-pay. After having driven 8 hours with our prior approved 4 dogs, we entered the house cautiously optimistic and immediately contacted both VRBO and the property manager, Jeff. VRBO was unsuccessful in making contact with the host and after an hour of back and forth, Jeff offered another property for our family to shift to, of which, we were grateful. Upon arrival at the second property, at almost 9 PM, Jeff provided entry information and informs us that we would need to vacate home #2 by 10 AM and return to the initial property booked; however, no confirmation was or could be offered that the water would be restored. By this time, I decline the 2nd property and request a refund as I’m no longer interested in loading/unloading the truck for the 3rd & 4th time when this was a completely avoidable situation; Jeff scoffed at the idea, suggested cleaning fees should be charged at both properties even though property #2 was never entered except by my husband to check for water and he denied our request for refund. We ended up having to book an “Instant Book” property through competitor as VRBO could only offer a hotel for the night and could not force a refund. This was vacation quickly turned into a nearly 4,000 lodging nightmare that we should’ve never been faced with. As a disabled veteran, on limited income, this was a huge blow. Booker Beware.
