Marmot Mini Cabin (Unit 7) at The Woolly Bugger Inn
Welcome to The Woolly Bugger Inn! Our cabins, tiny homes, and suites are tucked into the woodsy Big Thompson Canyon just minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park and downtown Estes Park.
ABOUT THE MARMOT MINI CABIN (#7): The old-school, bite-sized Marmot Mini Cabin is nestled overlooking the Big Thompson River and has everything you need and nothing you don't: a kitchenette including all the kitchen basics except for a full-size oven (youâll have a small Ninja oven), a queen-sized bed, a private efficiency bath, a TV, and a private deck space complete with a grill and private hot tub. At 170 square feet, it's perfect for groups of 1-2 who don't mind a little coziness.
About The Woolly Bugger Inn: Weâre nestled along a quarter-mile private stretch of the (highly fishable!) Big Thompson River, with plenty of space to spread out and relax on our forested, five-acre grounds. The vibe here is cozy, laid-back, and old-school, with a mix of historic rental quarters and newer, more modern dwellings to choose from. Weâre five minutes from downtown Estes Park and ten minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park.

**BEFORE YOU BOOK!** Read on to ensure our quirky property is the right fit for your getaway:
Pets: We love hosting dogs, so let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along and we'll send you our pet agreement and fee. Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night (free after the third night).
The Vibe: This is a small, rustic, budget-friendly cabin. When we say "historic,â we mean historicâthis cabin is nearly 100 years old, and sometimes, our âold-schoolâ shows. This can mean drafts when itâs cold out, some summer heat, and youâre bound to see an occasional four-to-eight-legged friend around the property. We like to think of ourselves as an extension of the Front Range ecosystem, so itâs all part of the fun!
WiFi & Cell: WiFi is limited throughout our canyon. We offer the best we can, but donât expect to Zoom into meetings (or much of anything, internet-wise). Cell service is limited on the property at this time, so try to pull up your cabin and check-in instructions before you arrive. Please also note that weather can impact satellite TV strength in the area, as WiFi coverage has to be beamed through satellite dishes.
Safety: For the safety of our guests, we maintain outdoor security cameras to monitor wildlife visits, fire risks, hazardous elements, and other safety protocols (public spaces only). Please note our property is wild and rugged, with cliff features, boulders, slopes, uneven surfaces, river access, and regular wildlife visits (bear, elk, wild cats, and more). Use caution around any natural terrain, understand and follow wildlife safety practices, and abide by our pet, fire, hot tub (if your unit includes one), and on-site rules as posted in your cabin guide. Hot tubs [if applicable] are for use at your own risk and not protected by a gate; the hosts are not responsible for injuries resulting from the use of the hot tub. Guests shall hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Owner against any and all claims of personal injury or property damage or loss arising from the use of the property, inclusive of but not limited to the house, hot tub, fire pits, etc., regardless of the nature of the accident, injury, or loss.
Seasonal Information: Winters & Shoulder Season: Winter in Estes is magical, and weâre happy to make recommendations on activities! While US-34 east of the Park remains open and plowed, if youâre planning to visit during the winter/shoulder season, consider snow tires and any other supplies you may want for winter conditions. Trail Ridge Rd and other routes over the continental divide close seasonally every year, so access to Grand Lake and the western part of RMNP requires rerouting through I-70 to the south (which adds about 3-4 hours to the trip). During winter, watch out for snow shedding from roofs and icy/snowy walkways along our rugged grounds. Weâll send more winter info about a month before arrival.
Summer/Early Fall: This is the high season! Note that certain cabins and suites can get toasty during the daytime, but night typically cools off significantly. Fire season typically falls between summer and early fall in the area, so air quality may be unhealthy during this time, particularly among sensitive groups.
Check out the Rocky Mountain National Park website ahead of time for more information on Timed Entry Permits during peak season (typically May-October).
Let us know if you have questions! We hope you enjoy this neck of the woods as much as we do. Holler if you want to chat. Welcome to The Woolly Bugger Inn! To make sure everyone has a safe and peaceful stay, please read through the following:
Pets: Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night (for up to the first 3 nights, then after your third night, dogs stay free!). We can accommodate a maximum of two dogs (and dogs only at this time), but get in touch with us if you have a special circumstance. Let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along, and weâll send our pet agreement/fee.
Garbage and Food Storage: Estes Park is active bear habitat! Please secure the bear-proof dumpster latch and secure your trash and food items to prevent wildlife break-ins (which put both your life and the animalâs life in danger).
Fire Safety: Your cabin is located in a region extremely susceptible to wildfires, so we take fire risk very seriously. No fireworks, absolutely no bonfires during fire bans (or otherwise posted), properly control and extinguish bonfires (drown using a bucket of river water, then use the stir-mix-feel method), turn off grills after use, and do not leave grills or fires unattended.
Quiet hours begin at 10 pm and end the following morning at 8 am.
Extra Guests: We donât permit extra guests beyond whatâs listed in your cabinâs capacity max. Any day use guests must be pre-approved.
Events: At this time, we donât allow guest events (such as weddings, parties, and so forth) at the property. Weâre happy, however, to book your larger-sized group in multiple coinciding rooms at the hotel as long as you maintain respect and capacity numbers in each unit, keep noise levels to a minimum, and respectfully share communal spaces with guests outside your party.
Smoking: All of our units are non-smoking, but if guests need to smoke, we ask that they abide by a few rules. Visit The Woolly Bugger Inn FAQs & Policies for the full policy.
Early Check-In and Late Check-Out: At this time weâre unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs, but get in touch if you have a unique situation.
Cancellation: Please contact us if you have any questions on cancellation policies and refunds.
Leave No Trace: Respecting public lands and waters, Native and local communities, and our property is important to us. Please leave what you find and dispose of waste properly.
Hot Tubs: Please visit The Woolly Bugger Inn FAQs & Policies for the full policy.
How close is Marmot Mini Cabin (Unit 7) at The Woolly Bugger Inn to the airport?
This cabin is 34.1 mi (53-min drive) away from the Fort Collins, CO (FNL-Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal) airport, the closest popular airport to the property.
They said it would be small, which was accurate, while it was also packed with comfort. The front deck had the grill and chairs while the back deck had the hot tub and chairs. Inside the kitchen was filled with all the miniature cooking tools you'd need plus basic seasonings, coffee and a big fridge. The bed was comfy and the living room was spacious for its size. Two people plus large sized dogs wasnt a problem. It was good.
Stayed here for one night. Location was awesomeâŠclose to town but far enough away you get a bit secluded. There is no direct access to the back deck/hot tub. You walk out the front door to a path to the back of the house. Not a huge deal. Overall a lovely small cabin for our stya
This place was perfect for what we needed! We were gone most of the day exploring RMNP so we didn't need any more space than what this provided. The hot tub was amazing at the end of long hiking days. We brought our dog and she loved it as well! The shower could use some TLC but otherwise we would stay again!
Fun place to spend a few nights while visiting RMNP for a few days. Simple little cabin. Great location. Quiet area. Read the description, itâs well said and accurate. Especially the poor WiFi part. We could barely get a text message out. Which is what we after. Itâs a quick drive into Estes and the park. Nice ambient location.
This tiny home nestled in the mountains was perfect for our needs. The river was absolutely gorgeous! All of the amenities were fantastic, as well as the recommendations from the hosts. It was a pleasure to stay here and we will consider it whenever we are back in CO!
The cabin was clean, cozy, and so warm and inviting with the river flowing near. Every time I come to Estes Park- this is where Iâll stay. So much better than a hotel room!
This was the perfect spot for my husband and I. Itâs in a beautiful spot right on the river and the hot tub was a great perk. We will definitely be staying here again!
I really enjoyed this retreat after hiking all day at RMNP it was really nice to have a grill and all the kitchen amenities. Also the private hot tub. I like how there did the little notes around the cabin, little reminders done so well, I've seen to many super aggressive notes at other rental properties, hear they were cute little notes and I really appreciated there approach. My only complaint was the cabin smell was a strong perfume or something, it was not to my liking but I have friends who houses smell the same so that's kind of personal preference. I will be staying hear again after my next hiking trip in the area.
We loved the hot tub and location of the cabin. There are some very nice fire pits along the river that made for a wonderful atmosphere. The host was incredibly friendly! The only downside was that the cabin was barely big enough for me, my husband and dog and fairly rustic. The toilet was also very tiny and very close to the wall. We would love to come back, but would choose a bigger cabin.
This is the property I think of when I think of Estes park. This brought back memories of my childhood when staying here. I have stayed in Estes since then, in another cabin, but it was newer and it just didnât have the same vibe. This little cabin was perfect. The hot tub was perfect, stream is right out back which our dog loved, and the cabin was comfortable and updates had been made, but not so much that the charm was not lost. There were more larger cabins down the other side and I think rooms are the actual lodge, but this cabin seemed to be almost by itself. We really enjoyed the location of this canin.
Every year, my husband and I take a one week to just get away from everything. This year we chose the Dripping Springs B&B cabins. I can say we will be coming back next year because there is a peace here that is hard to find in the constant go-go life style these days.
Great communication! I really appreciate all the details to prepare us for our trip. We were very lucky to have great weather that kept the place cool. Hot tub was very relaxing with the river close by. I would definitely like to try your other properties soon!
Although the pictures made the cabin look a little bigger and I did not know there was no AC (probably didn't read closely enough) this turned out to be our favorite stay throughout our trip. It had everything we needed, and if we did need something, it had a self serve type store (free of charge) to get what you needed. It was very private and had an excellent view of the river from the hot tub. It was such an enjoyable stay. Staff was easy to contact through text and took care of any needs we had.
Had a fantastic time. It is in the perfect spot to get to estes park. We had elk at our front door along with other wildlife. Taylor was the go to person on site and she was awesome. She was so down to earth and really acknowledgable about the wildlife and things to do in the area. I would definitely stay here again!
