Schmidt's Cove - Incredible Private Lakefront Studio Apartment on Lake Huron!
Schmidt's Cove is a super cute studio apartment that comprises the entire top floor of a private home. It has an incredible view of Lake Huron from the apartment and the private balcony! It also includes use of an incredible private lakefront with a gorgeous lakefront deck with beach chairs, outdoor dining, swing, and a gas grill. Also has private bonfire ring on the lake and private gazebo. Provides for a beautifully romantic couple's getaway on Lake Huron! Must see to believe!
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:
We have a local property manager that lives in the area and is available to address any issues and answer any questions. The property owners themselves are open to chatting if desired, but are also fine with leaving guests alone.
NEIGHBORHOOD:
The home is in a high-end residential district along Lake Huron. Most of the homes in the neighborhood are vacation homes for professional families.
The apartment is only 6.4 miles from wonderful downtown East Tawas! Downtown East Tawas has a great collection of shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, a marina, and a movie theater. During the summer they close down the main street and have live music on Tuesday nights, which is a lot of fun! We would particularly recommend visiting The Village Chocolatier for chocolates and having breakfast at The Lazy Toaster.
The entire area is famous for fishing, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, and nature viewing and there are a number of different places in the area for these activities. There are also several places in the area that rent out boats, kayaks, and paddleboards for fun on the water if you don't have your own watercraft.
GUEST ACCESS:
Guests have complete access to the studio apartment and to the entire outdoor grounds of the property. The private home below the studio apartment is off limits to guests though.
SPACE:
The interior of the apartment is comfortable, modern, and updated and features a spectacular view of Lake Huron from the main room! The apartment has a queen-size bed, a sofa bed, and small dining table with chairs, and a modern kitchen. The kitchen has a good supply of cooking and dining utensils, but there is no dishwasher. Note that there is also a propane gas grill and outdoor dining furniture on the private deck on Lake Huron. The apartment has a full bathroom with a walk-in shower.
The apartment features Wi-Fi, streaming television, central air conditioning, and forced air natural gas heating. It does not have a washer and dryer.
TRANSIT:
It is highly recommended that guests have their own means of transportation. There is parking space for 1 or 2 vehicles in the private driveway at the property.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1) PRIVACY: The property owners are a retired couple and they live year-round in the house below the apartment. The apartment itself is completely private though. The owners are very friendly and very open to chatting if guests wish to do so, but are also fine with leaving guests alone if they wish to be left alone.
2) WATERCRAFT: No watercraft are included with the rental, but guests are welcome to put in their own canoes, kayaks, and/or paddleboards right at the property. There are also several places in the area that rent out watercraft if guests do not have their own watercraft. Life jackets are not provided and guests utilize the lake at their own risk.
3) PETS: All pets are strictly prohibited.
4) HEATING AND COOLING: The apartment has central air conditioning as well as a forced air gas furnace for heating.
5) ACCESSIBILITY: The apartment is on the third floor of a private home, so it requires walking up 2 flights of stairs. As such, it may not work well for elderly individuals or individuals with small children.
6) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.
7) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not.
8) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. As such, late check-outs are strictly prohibited.
