Summer, Mermaid Coast Cottages on Lake Huron
NO ADDTIONAL FEES! No cleaning fees or pet fees. This adorable vintage cottage will take you back in time. Enjoy beautiful views of Lake Huron 300 feet from the cottage. Beach is only a short drive down the road. The interior is vintage and cozy. Guests have the entire cottage to themselves. We have a small fire pit and charcoal grill outside the cottage. We have a badminton net and supplies next to the cottage. Guests have access to our deck at the water along with hammock and picnic table. Host lives on site and is available whenever home to assist guests with their needs. The property has two other cottages and owners home. There are a lotof trees and not many neighbors. It's quiet and peaceful. We have many many bird species and lots of black squirrels and chipmunks to watch. Lake Huron is a short walk down the driveway for beautiful views. We have a picnic table and hammock at the water front for all guests to enjoy. Bring your bike and take a ride down Baldwin Resort Rd to Tawas Beach where you can take the bike lane all the way to the Tawas Point State Park or into town. This property sits on wooded sand dunes next to Lake Huron. It is rural and quiet. However, because it is next to the lake and in the woods we share our property with nature. We take every precaution to keep nature outside but this is a 1950's style cabin and sometimes nature comes in anyway. Wifi is functional but slow. Not recommended for streaming. We have a two night minimum requirement.
The cabin is a perfect for a getaway. Close to multiple beaches. You can go by the shore, sit at the table and enjoy the lake. The double bed was comfortable. There is no tv but who needs one when you have so much to do. It is great that the cabin is dog friendly. Wonderful host and easy to communicate.
We enjoyed ourselves very much. Property was very clean; very quiet, close by to town and the beaches in the area. The hosts were wonderful people and great to deal with.
A really nice little cottage to rent for a getaway/retreat type of vacation. Itâs like a four minute drive to Tawas point State Park, which is an incredible park with the most amazing dog friendly beach that my dog loved more than life itself. One thing to know in case this is important to you, which it was not a big deal for me, is that the cottage next-door is very close.
Amaziny, cozy little cottage with everything you could possibly need. The fans really helped to keep the place cool and comfortable. My whole family got a great night sleep and couldnt stop talking about how comfortable the beds were.
While dated, the cabin was just as pictured and was very clean. The amenities were limited. Not even an ice tray available. The setting was not what we had hoped. We had a dirt pad next to the cabin and there was no privacy between cabins. We had to walk through the owners yard to get to the lake and then we ended up in someone elseâs backyard. The lake was essentially inaccessible due to the rocks and the dock had a small metal bench.
Everything was wonderful. Just one pretty minor complaint: the CD player was weird to operate and only one speaker worked.
We had a great time. We visited Tuttle Marsh and the River Road on the Au Sable River on our way out, and climbed the lighthouse and hiked all around the edge of the peninsula. The fall colors were at peak for a good portion of our trip up.
Thanks very much for making our 40th anniversary a great experience.
Thank you so much for letting us stay at the Mermaid Cottages. The location was perfect, so close to everything. We loved waking up and sitting by the lake in the morning. We will definitely recommend to friends and come for another stay
I had a great time at Tawas Bay, awesome to get away from the Southern summer heat and humidity. Got lost momentarily at first, but once you find the mermaid tail sign by the mailboxes, youâll know where you are. The cabin is the second on the left. While itâs not right on the lake, you can see it through the trees. The host has a deck on her home on the property where youâre welcome to get a great view of the sunrise over the lake.
The cabin itself matches whatâs shown in the pictures. Plenty of books to read! Plenty of thrillers and romance novels on the bookshelves, if youâre into that. My attention span with reading is low, so I spent my down time reading all the kids books! The bed in the master bedroom is comfy, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the electric stove cooks the food!
Youâre only a couple miles down the road from Tawas Point State Park for the beaches. Thereâs also a lighthouse there, but apparently itâs closed in 2023 due to restorations. A 20 minute drive north is Huron National Forest; lots of trails to choose from for hiking and or bike riding. I highly recommend visiting the Lumbermenâs Monument. The view from the sand dunes overlooking the AuSable River is mind blowing!!
Overall a nice chill place to get away from the stresses of urban life!
Cute, rustic cabin. Love the open floor plan and the old windows, doors, beams. Has more amneties than listed. The property is on Lake Huron but the cabin sits down the driveway a ways. Really quiet area. GREAT hosts. Internet service was weak. If you want to really unplug and get off all screens for a bit- this is the place for you!
