La Faisane - Five Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 10
In the Normandy countryside, La Faisane offers a deeply atmospheric retreat where traditional character and contemporary comfort exist in perfect harmony. This beautifully restored 18th-century longĂšre has been thoughtfully extended with a modern wing, creating a luminous, family-friendly home that balances authenticity with fresh, elegant design, ideal for any time of year. Inside, exposed beams, grand fireplaces and quality furnishings speak to a warm, welcoming spirit, all enhanced by the eye of a professional interior designer.
The generous living spaces feel both airy and intimate, with a large salon filled with natural light thanks to expansive glass doors that open directly onto the terrace and garden. The intimate reading room is such an elegant place to relax whilst the beautiful kitchen with its wood beamed ceiling opens to the traditional dining room and a large fireplace.
Outside, discover the gloriously large garden where trees and flowering plants create shade-dappled corners perfect for reading or relaxing. Thereâs table tennis and boules for family games. The grounds still whisper of their rural past - scattered around the garden are traditional outbuildings, some with thatched roofs, once used for pressing apples and tending animals.
Set just a 10-minute stroll from the village of Ăpaignes, with its essential shops and local character, La Faisane places you in reach of many Normandy highlights. Spend slow mornings exploring nearby brocantes, cycle through rolling landscapes dotted with orchards, or take scenic trips to Pont-Audemer, Honfleur or the beaches of Trouville-sur-Mer. The regionâs gastronomic and cultural riches lie all around, from creamy Pont-lâĂvĂȘque cheese to the Belle Ăpoque charm of Deauville.

Location:
With farmland, apple orchards and gently rolling hills, this part of France offers classic Norman landscapes at their most picturesque, perfect for leisurely walks, cycling along quiet country lanes or browsing one of the many nearby brocantes and antique shops.
La Faisane itself is located just outside the traditional Eure village of Ăpaignes (800m), where youâll find essentials (including a bakery, pharmacy, small supermarket, tennis and paddle courts and hotel restaurant) and a charming local atmosphere. You can walk to the village (along a main road, no pavement) or it's a very short drive/cycle ride. There are larger supermarkets and other amenities in Beuzeville (12km).
Within easy reach, the characterful town of Pont-Audemer (11.5km), often referred to as the âNorman Veniceâ, invites you to wander its canals and half-timbered streets. A little further, Le Bec-Hellouin (24km), officially one of Franceâs âPlus Beaux Villagesâ, is a gem of heritage and beauty with its ancient abbey and peaceful setting. For market days and historic architecture, the vibrant town of Bernay (26km) makes a worthwhile day trip.
Those with a taste for culture and coastal landscapes will find even more to discover across the wider region. Le Havre (45km), a UNESCO-listed city of modernist architecture, and the dramatic white cliffs of Ătretat (67km) offer contrasting coastal experiences. For a touch of Impressionist magic, a longer day trip to Claude Monetâs house and gardens in Giverny (around 90 minutes by car) is a must. Rouen (69km), the historic capital of Normandy, enchants visitors with its striking Gothic cathedral, medieval half-timbered houses and vibrant cultural scene.
Whether you're drawn to Normandyâs coastline, countryside or cultural treasures, La Faisane is ideally positioned for a rich and varied escape, combining rustic charm with easy access to some of the regionâs most iconic destinations.
