It felt like a museum with portraits of famous guests over the decades. The staff was friendly but the room was small, breakfast was very basic and

Liked: Room comfort
The room was dirty when we checked in. They moved us to another room. It’s a historic inn and has a lot of old smells with it. The place has charm but not as clean as hoped. For the price the continental breakfast could have been better.
We loved the trip back through time to experience what a hotel looked like back in the day. We felt sad that at this historic location they appear to struggle financially. Our room was adequate for its purpose. Being on the west side of the hotel, the afternoon sun made the room quite hot and, without AC, we relied on an old casement window that opened about 5 inches to cool the room. We left our room door open to allow air flow into the room. By 10pm, the room was cool enough. But the lobby was historic, and the old city was fun to walk around in.
We did not realize this hotel was built in 1922. It could use some major upgrades. I wouldn't have been surprised to see the twin girls from the Shining standing in the hallway. Everything seemed clean enough, but was just very old. If your staying for historical significance, this is the place for you. If you're looking for modern amenities, find someplace else. The only time we saw a staff member was at check in. We were sent a text to see if we needed anything. When we responded that we needed toilet paper, the reply said there was no one available. Why offer a service if you can't provide it.
We totally enjoyed our stay at the Eureka Inn. It was so much fun walking around the beautiful hotel and learning about the history and all the famous people that stayed there. The room was nice, had everything we needed. So glad we stayed there.
It's a great property, classic old hotel. You can imagine women in ball gowns and men in tuxedos sitting in the lobby around the fireplace or having a cocktail in the bar. Our room was very comfortable but there were only two towels for three people. The body wash and conditioner was empty. We let the desk know and nothing was refilled and we still only had two towels. That was a little disappointing. I will stay there again, but I hope they figure out the housekeeping situation.
The history of the hotel is amazing. I love original architecture and structure, and the old style phone in the room was a nice touch. But the bathroom (sink drain) wreaked of mould/mildew (it was pungent), the toilet had feces stuck to the bowl, the bed was horribly hard and the pillows looked (literally) like throw pillows you’d find on a couch (1/2 the size of a standard pillow). I expected at least a mini split in the room but no. Only a fan or heat. The vanity had no space to put toiletries. The photos make it look better than it is. Very run down, and desk staff weren’t all that pleasant or friendly (the maid was 100x friendlier). I stayed for work, but I won’t stay here again. No idea where the amazing reviews are coming from.
We really enjoyed the old charm of this hotel, and learning about its history. Our room was quiet and very clean which made our stay very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.
