Great hotel but air con issues left me hot.

Stayed here before and previously had issues with the air conditioning which again on this trip was broken leading to an uncomfortable nights sleep. Otherwise love this hotel, great pool, breakfast and service. Staff apologised and offered free drink etc but being able to sleep in a cool room is an essential for me so would make me think twice about booking again.

Comfortable but needs updating

Hotel lovely. Room needs new carpet etc. electric points on wall were not fully secured. Air con not working but given free parking as a sweetener. Telephone in room not working so unable to call reception . Had to use my mobile to ring through to reception - twice…… as my request was not followed up first time so rang again after an hour of waiting. … . Request was for more tea bags as only one everyday tea bag in room- for two of us. Only 4 small milk pots to make tea in morning. But …. We were staying for my daughter’s graduation and the note & chocolates left in the room for her were a lovely touch.

Heatwave stay

I checked in on an incredibly hot day when the air conditioning wasn't working as it should. The lady at reception moved my room without being asked to make sure the room I was checked into had air con. When I got to my room, it had clearly been prepared with the heat in mind - the curtains were closed against the direct sunlight and a fan was running - the room was lovely and cool, a nice reprieve from the heat outside. Staff are polite and incredibly helpful.

Have stayed at this hotel for many years - I visit Exeter several times a year to visit relatives - it seems to me to be in need of a little updating. I believe staff numbers (particularly in the dining room have been cut down. It is situated in a most convenient location and is very adequate for a stay

Very good location for the centre of the City

Very good location for the centre of the City, next to the Roman wall with the Cathedral on the other side. Peeved that the gym was free but the pool, sauna etc. was £10 per session, but that was a minor niggle. Bar food decent and fairly priced. Used as a base to explore Exeter and beyond.
