I love this place. It is a real "old time" hotel. The building dates to the gold rush, and it opened as a hotel in 1932. The room is tiny, but has incredible old time charm. If you want the standard, modern, cookie-cutter hotel experience, take the interstate from the Denver to Santa Fe. If you want a real, authentic, once in a lifetime experience, take the back roads, savor the mountains and back country scenery, and stay overnight in Fairplay at the Hand. Fairplay is at 9,953 ft and has a population of 724. This is the real deal!
What a cool place. Very quiet, lots of nature around, including a staircase down to a pond where people were fly fishing. You can also pan for gold nearby
I loved how every room had a theme. The back deck was a favorite spot for views and peace and space. The staff was so kind and helpful. I loved the uniqueness of this experience with Hand Hotel and would absolutely stay there again.
Delightful historic hotel. A nice blend of antique and updated. Wonderful hosts. The breakfast was the best I have had at a hotel in a very long time, very fresh and delicious.
This was everyone's favorite hotel from our CO trip - a quiet, peaceful spot with a memorable view of the river. We booked the suite at the back of the property and really enjoyed our little patio, especially for morning coffee. Staff was very friendly. Room was comfortable with adequate wifi and a keurig. Breakfast was tasty with something for everyone.
Beautiful historic hotel. Two things to be aware of. No TV in room, reason I was told is that most people stream shows. We do not have any streaming service. We played Scrabble we borrowed from the hotel. Shower pressure was spotty. The shower stopped three times for several minutes each time.
It is a quaint historic hotel.
I am obsessed, this place is so gorgeous. It's gonna be my new spot for a peaceful getaway from the city, I love the town too, it's tiny and walkable and everyone is so knowledgeable and walking along or just chilling by the river is gorgeous, the sunroom at this place is just a dream, the rooms are unique, all the staff I met are super sweet, the breakfast is bomb, dog friendly AF and the history of the hotel and the whole town is just so cool đ» i'm so blessed to have found this place it's magical
Hotel Hand is by far the best little hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are friendly, kind, and accommodating. I feel like these types of places are a dying breed, which is too bad. I want to plan another trip just so I can stay here again!
