Cozy, but noisy
This is a very cool restored hotel. It is lovely and they have done a good job of making it feel homey. Because it is old, the walls and ceilings are very thin. We were kept up late one night because the people next to us were talking so loud. I called the front desk and then walked down to the front desk but no one was there because it was after hours. After an hour and a half of listening to them, I finally banged on the wall and they got quiet. Also, we had a queen room, which was very cute, but there was barely enough room for the two of us to move around. Walking through the hotel, I could see that some of the other rooms are much larger, so you may want to opt for something bigger. Fairplay is a quaint, historical mountain town and we loved the nearby shops and restaurants! Also, the hotel breakfast was lovely!

Travelled with family, Travelled with family and small children
We stayed so we could be a little closer to Breck for a couple days of skiing. My boys loved the bunk beds in The Outlaw room, the breakfast, and Hazel of course. The staff was great, especially Mike. We will look for any excuse to come back in the future now that we found this hidden gem!
The hotel is historic, cozy, quaint. Lots of cozy sitting areas to relax in peace and quiet.
The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, hospitable.
My room was clean.
Close enough to the ski areas to be woth the affordable price and little town of Fairplay. Historic hotel with great lobby with fireplace for lounging. You wont be sitting in your room because its small. Be prepared to open a window because it got hot. Better than cold! Breakfast included with croissants, eggs and breakfast burrito etc. Good!
It is a quaint and historic hotel right on the old main street. The staff were fun and accomodating. The breakfast was great. Our room was comfortable with a lovely sitting area outside our door. The views of the mountain and the river were gorgeous.
This was our first time in CO and it was such a great trip thanks to this cozy hotel! Definitely a small family owned establishment but the friendliness was amazing. There is a dog there named Hazel and she is just the sweetest. The owner and the front desk person was also extremely sweet. The rooms are all different and the room we got was small and cozy. We there for a snow trip so our stay was only to sleep. The breakfast in the morning was also really good! If we ever come back to CO we will definitely stay here again and it's close to the mountains that we boarded at.
I was surprised, given the positive reviews on Google, Just how shabby and worn out. This place is I was also expecting just a little more overall, but it is obviously a very old and historic hotel. That doesn't look like it's gone through much modern upkeep. The rooms are freezing and do not have a thermostat in them. And the beds are very old and hard, and there's not much privacy to the rooms overall, really.
Amazing little hotel, warm community vibes, and a fantastic breakfast make this a place we'll definitely stay again. Really appreciate the great hospitality.
