Sandpiper Destin West - 2 BR 2 Bath Sandpiper Ground Floor Condo

Sandpiper L01- We've updated even more! Just added January 2020 new granite counter tops with farmhouse sink. You will love walking into this newly remodeled condo with its fresh beach vibes and coastal feel. The owner has done a fantastic job remodeling this condo with soft pops of color all throughout the condo.

This spectacular lanai level unit is a one bedroom, a bunk area and two full baths with sliding doors leading directly out to the pool area from the living room. You will be able to enjoy your own ground space with a table and chairs for eating outdoors and a chaise for relaxing and reading a book while the rest of your family enjoy the pool from the front of the condo. How convenient is that? This condo features a full kitchen with upgraded appliances and everything you should need to fix a meal for your family. There are flat screen tvs in every room, wireless internet, and everything else you will need for a relaxing vacation.
Sleeping arrangements are: king bed in the large master bedroom and bunk beds in second room. There is also a sleeper sofa for you to use, as well.
This is a Lanai unit, which offers the luxury of having its own private gas grill and outdoor kitchens and convenience of access to the lazy river directly from the back patio. You can enjoy a nice cold beverage on your patio all while watching the kids float by in the lazy river.

Come and enjoy beach to bay access, a 700 foot lazy river, four heated pools, three hot tubs, a total of four swimming pools, and a kiddie splash pool. This is a much sought after resort and this is a convenient and bright condo.


I could go on and on about this unit but I think the pictures say enough and they do not do the condo justice. The only thing you will dislike about this condo is that you will have to leave it eventually.

Destin Area Information
Destin is well known as the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village largely because of it roots as a top fishing destination and quick access to deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Destin boasts the largest charter fishing fleet in the state of Florida. If you have an interest in charter deep sea fishing – Destin is the place. But, there is much more to Destin than charter fishing. It is a top beach vacation destination. Featuring sugar white sand beaches and emerald colored water, it is an absolutely beautiful area. The town itself offers many upscale shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities. Much of the development of the area has been done with luxury lifestyles in mind. Destin also has one of the busiest private airports in the country.

My family and I have stayed at Destin West three times. We loved every condo but this is our favorite. Not a single complaint. I wish we would have booked it for longer. This condo was very clean and will be our go to unit from now on.

Worst condo I’ve stayed in on Destin west property.

This condo definitely needs help. It was filthy. The furniture is old and stained and soiled we covered the couch before we would sit on it totally gross. Lights In Either shower didn’t work as well as the floors were horrible. I paid a premium for this place and got an air conditioner that didn’t work properly but I was told on the phone that it working fine no one ever came out to see about it. These owners should be embarrassed by the condition of this place. Bring your own utensils, what they have there is dollar store junk.Never Again!

You can tell they’ve tried to upgrade but still needs work. Wasn’t very pleased with communication with management. I asked twice for our missing wrist band and didn’t receive it or a response. I asked for extra towels and got no response. I asked for a late checkout and didn’t receive a response until the following afternoon after checkout. The toilet in the master doesn’t stop running. The 7th bed is a small chair that unfolds and is very hard. The mattress in the bunk bed is so bad you can feel the board underneath. There are stains on the furniture and the rug is filthy and in horrible shape. They need to restock the kitchen supplies because they were missing some of the basics like a spatula to cook with. The louver doors on the bunk bedroom are not ideal for noise or light issues. The location was great and master bedroom was nice. It looks like they’ve done some updating but they need to continue.

Five star but left behind 2 items of clothing,

We really enjoyed our stay. Perfect location, etc. Unfortunately I seem to have left behind a long-sleeved aqua Columbia woman’s shirt & a pair of okivd green Columbia cargo capris. Please contact me in how I can get them back. My cell is 828-508-1404.

Wonderful condo!

It was a great condo. We loved most of everything about it. The sofa bed was terrible and unusable as a place to sleep. We loved the linens on the beds and towels were great. The location of the condo was perfect! We left a check list in the drop box at the office as we left about incidentals that need attention such as replacing batteries in clock, etc.

Great until Friday Night

We love staying at Destin West! This was our second time and it was great
 until Friday night when we had a HUGE cockroach appear in our room. It was disgusting and I couldn’t sleep knowing there was a possibility of more of those disgusting creatures being in our room. Incredibly disappointed!

Great property and owners

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Destin west beach and bay resort. We lived the lazy river and having a grill right out the back door! Our last night there we had a leak under the kitchen sink and Julie was easy to get a hold of and had someone there within minutes to fix it! We would recommend this place to anyone!

Epic Time with Family

I let my boys create the title, they are 6 and 10 at the time of this review. First trip to Destin, first experience as a family of four doing a major vacation with just us, first experience with VRBO, and first experience in a condo...and it was EPIC!!!! Of course, I read a ton of reviews online and consulted with friends that had already traveled to Destin to find a good spot to stay. I ended up at Destin West. Then came the time to make a big decision - ocean front or bayside condos...oh the joys! Of course, as a mom I wanted to wake up and see the ocean - but something kept telling me that my boys would LOVE the 700 foot lazy river on the bayside and my husband would love the fishing from the pier. I told myself that this trip was one to learn from, not be "perfect" at and so I decided to go with the bayside resort and see how I felt not having the ocean view when I woke up. The next decision I faced was finding a condo that worked for our family. We wanted to be on the ground level so that there was easy in/out access to the pools...our boys are old enough now that we knew we would be comfortable with them jumping in the lazy river while we enjoyed a drink on the deck that overlooked the lazy river and make trips (easily) back and forth to the room for a drink or snack rather than having to pack up everything and commit to being in a pre-plotted pool spot all day. It was DEVINE!!! This condo was the perfect location for us. We enjoyed a close-by heated pool that never got too busy, a lazy river right outside of our gate, and an easy walk out to the pier (which turned out to be such a cool fishing adventure each day). We had no idea that there was a jet ski rental place next to the pier - it's much cheaper than trying to rent one at the Harbor and I think safer b/c it's not the ocean jet ski rentals. We had an absolute BLAST playing with jet ski's for an hour in the bay and never felt like we were restricted. Then the walks over to the other resorts you have access to is sooooooo easy and so nice! Honestly, I loved that time we walked back to our resort the sand was knocked off! We enjoyed going to the beach and then hopping in the pool at the DestinWest Ocean Front resort (which you have access to) before heading back to our condo. Also, we made a day to get wrist bands from The Island resort, which you also have access to as a Destin West guest and they have a nice pool grill (which is not present at DestinWest properties) and rock pool!

We've been to this property before and were so excited to come back. We had not stayed in this unit before and it is our new favorite. Great ground floor unit with a wall straight out to the lazy river and right by the steps to get to the parking lot quickly. We will be back!

Not enough tiiolet paper or paper towels for 4 people for a week. Would have been 2 more adults and a child if not for Corona virus. Also thought gas would have been included in rental. Never had to worry about getting a gas grill tank filled.

Perfect Family Vacay Aug 2020

Property is just as pictured. The bunk room is super small but fine for kid’s. The patio and bbq area are perfect!! The lower unit is so convenient to the pool with no elevator hassles. Lol. The walk to the beach was no big deal to us and we did it several times a day. The beach is gorgeous white sands and very clean. Convenient to shopping, restaurants and the grocery store. Jet ski rentals are right next door and only $80 per hour (Destin is $125). We would stay in this unit again!! Thank you!!!! 💙
