In the heart of the Texas Hill Country and the Fredericksburg wine country, in a stunning setting just feet from the Pedernales River, is this dog-friendly, modern Texas home surrounded by acres of shady oak and pecan trees, deer and abundant wildlife, and country serenity. Whether you are looking for a getaway with someone special or want to gather with friends or family, there is no other place in the Hill Country that can match the riverside beauty and the unique wine country location of this luxury vacation rental.
Even with the charming German town of Fredericksburg just an eight-minute drive away you may never want to leave this incredible four-bedroom, three-bath, two-story Texas paradise. Each bedroom has a king-size bed and a breathtaking view of the river or the grounds, and there is a bunk room with adult-friendly bunk beds and upscale mattresses that sleeps six. Two more guests can sleep in two rollaway beds downstairs. This home is truly stunning with a white stone exterior, 20-foot vaulted ceilings in the main living area, tile floors, and unique Texas decor.
If you decide to venture out, within four miles of the gate you’ll find 17 wineries, Altstadt Brewery, the Wild Seed Farm, and famous Luckenbach where you can drink beer under the oak trees, western dance, and listen to the music. The main street in Fredericksburg is just eight minutes away, where you’ll discover incredible shops, museums, live music, and food from barbecue to steaks to cosmopolitan dining. There's also ample wine tasting opportunities and a micro brewery. If you want to take short day trips, you can hike at Enchanted Rock State Park, visit the Bat Tunnel State Park, follow the river five miles to LBJ National Park, or visit Austin or San Antonio each just an hour away.
After a thrilling day you can grab a glass of your favorite wine and relax on one of the covered patios to listen to the sounds of the river and watch the sky change colors. Bring binoculars, since you're sure to see an abundance of diverse wildlife that lives on the property, including deer, antelope, wading birds, hawks, turkeys, and much more.
If you decide not to enjoy dinner out, you can prepare your own in the well-equipped gourmet kitchen with ample granite counters and a separate dining area. Stainless steel major appliances are accompanied by a dishwasher, microwave, and even smaller appliances like blender, toaster, and slow cooker. Caffeine lovers, rejoice - there are four different ways to brew coffee! For all you chefs out there just bring your own ingredients and everything from five-course meals to plates of appetizers are easily prepared. There is a large open fire pit overlooking the river where steaks, chicken or burgers can be cooked, and also a portable propane grill.
After dinner, you’ll have trouble deciding whether to return to the patio to listen to the night sounds of the river, or go inside to enjoy music or watch a movie on one of the three televisions with satellite. You'll also have WiFi and a DVD library. And don’t stay up too late, since there is nothing better than coffee at sunrise watching wildlife on a Texas river.
The home is dog-friendly (with a 25-pound weight limit and nightly pet fee) and welcomes children.
The River House is not just a place to stay, it is truly an experience. Your special someone, family, or friends will count the days until they can come back and do it all over again.

Fantastic Ranch Retreat in Hill Country
Exceptional house with cowboy and ranch themes furnishing.on lovely 53 acre ranch. Our neighbors were deer and antelope. Beds and bedrooms we’re comfortable and well furnished. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. Outside areas were very furnished with great vistas. Conveniently located to many of the best wineries and other attractions in Hill Country. Only drawback was inconsistent Wi-Fi, but that was a very minor issue when you you are enjoying the beauty of this property.

Beautiful home!
Everything was great. The house is super nice. The only issues we had were that we had to replace batteries in multiple tv remotes. And most of the kitchen pans/crockpot we had to clean before using them. Location was great close enough to attractions, and secluded enough for some relaxation!

Great house and good location. However poorly maintained. Gas grill didn't work, ice maker didn't work, microwave didn't work, burnt light bulbs, Security Lights didn't work, trash left in garage, bushes over grown on side walk, Refrigerator leaked water everyday on kitchen floor.

Perfect stay
House was beautiful and fit our family perfectly. Beds were comfy. Kitchen was very nice and grounds were full of deer and butterflies! Close to everything we wanted to do.
It’s easy to miss the entrance but use the iron work next door as a landmark.

Great home near vineyards
We had such a lovely stay at this home, after finally getting inside. The locks/codes to the front door were not working and we had to call into vascasa. They then had to reach out to their local team to help us get in. It wasted about an hour and our groceries almost ruined, but we finally got inside. Not a good start, but were all just happy to be inside out of the heat.
Three families stayed here and it was a perfect setup for us! There is a loft upstairs that has 6 bunk beds. Our 6 girls enjoyed having their own area! There are two bedrooms upstairs and one master downstairs. They were very nice and cool, spacious and comfortable. Everyone family had their own full bath and that was wonderful. The living room and kitchen were a great hang out spot and very spacious. We have stayed in many vrbo homes and I was surprised that there wasn't water or any snacks provided, (and the water filter wasn't working). There were two coffee machines, but no coffee provided. Good thing we brought our own. We made breakfasts in the mornings and the kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes. The listing states that you can walk down to the river, we didn't end up doing that since it was quite a steep hike down, but it's very beautiful! There are beautiful views from every window. So peaceful and quiet if you need to unplug. The house location was located within minutes to most of the Stonewall vineyards, that was a huge plus! We did ask if we could check out an hour later (at 11:00, instead of 10:00) our last morning since we had such a horrible experience checking in, and they declined. I thought that was distasteful considering our check-in experience. And well knowing it wasn't booked the next day because we had been emailed to see if we would stay another night. Not a big deal- just inconsiderate on their part. But overall we enjoyed the stay, it's a comfortable, lovely home for families.

STUNNING
Believe every word about the property being gorgeous. It is an animal refuge yes, but it is a human one as well. We saw every kind of deer plus hawks, cranes and even a bald eagle. The view from every window is spacious and beautiful.
The mater bedroom bed is amazing and the upstairs bedroom viewing the river is like a bird nest sanctuary. The bathtub - please! The cool showers - yes!
We couldn't figure out the heat but the property manager was quick to respond and the issue was addressed and fixed quickly as well.
The sound from the adjacent highway was constant when outdoors - in other seasons, when the trees are filled with leaves they may muffle the sound but we were there in the winter.
It is a lovely property, worth every penny, and you should RENT IT!

Nauseating odor inside the whole time/ great location
Upon arrival we were hit in the face with a terrible stench. We thought it was the prior guests’ cooking but the smell never left. It was nauseating. Please change the air filters! The master bedroom closet was unusable bc of an even stronger foul smelling odor. The master bedroom had a sheet and a light comforter which clearly hadn’t been dry cleaned in some time. So basically we slept with just a sheet on. The bath mats weren’t washed which is another reason for my poor rating on cleanliness. The air vents specifically in the kitchen had an obscene amount of dust and debris coming out of it. There was a disgusting overly used deteriorating dish sponge and half a bottle of soap for us to clean dishes with. I ended up going to HEB and buying a few pans, spatula , dish soap, dish scrubber along with a few other necessary cleaning items that the house failed to provide. Also, it would have been nice and frankly I was expecting there to at least be a few bottles of water in the fridge to greet us with after the four+ hour drive in. We were so parched.
The house has great potential especially for groups but the management was poor and we especially were expecting above and beyond cleanliness given Covid-19.
On the upside the location was great- a touch over 10 mins into Fredericksburg and Luckenbach. 3 Minutes to wildseed farm and 15 mins to HEB. I haven’t been to Fredericksburg in over five years and couldn’t get over all of the beautiful and plentiful wineries!! Most were closed due to Covid 19 but we found two gems that were open and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be going back to Fredericksburg area but will look for a different place.
