Emmie's | Great Location

Located just 3 blocks north of Main Street and Marktplatz (Market Square), Emmie's House is a perfect location for exploring Fredericksburg. The house was originally built circa 1933 by Red and Emmie Schroeder, lifelong residents of Fredericksburg. Emmie was the first woman graduate of the University of Texas School of Pharmacy and Red was a Mayor of Fredericksburg from 1952 to 1958.

Emmie's House has furnishings original to the home in addition to furniture from the family of the current owner. It sits on a large corner lot, known for it's massive Italian Stone Pine tree. The back yard is private and offers both an arbor with Adirondack chairs for lounging and patio with table and chairs to use while grilling on the gas grill.

The home is unusual for Fredericksburg, from it's unique rock exterior to the soaring ceiling in the formal living room. The iron curtain rods and light fixtures are original to the house. Note the hand painted photograph of young Emmie to the right of the fireplace. Emmie's House was renovated in 2020, but retains much of its character from 1933.

Enjoy breakfast in the sunny breakfast room on the vintage table that is original to the house. Dinner can be served in the large dining room on an expansive table that will seat 10 people. The original kitchen is well stocked with most anything you could need for a meal in-house.

The back bedroom has a queen size bed and comfy club chair. The center bedroom has 2 twin beds plus a day bed. The bedding and mattresses are all new in 2020. The front turquoise-pink-black bathroom is also original to the house reflecting Emmie's love of color.

The den was designed to be casual and comfortable. A large 65” smart TV is on one wall. Games are in the credenza below the TV and can be enjoyed on the game table in the den.

If you are seeking the convenience of an in-town, walkable location combined with history and the outdoors, Emmie's House would love to welcome you.

Girls Trip

This was our group of 5 second annual trip to Fredericksburg. This quaint house was a perfect fit. We spent any home time in front of the fireplace. The house had all we needed and it was easy to get to town.

Pleasant Stay

We are annual visitors to Fredericksburg for about 15 years now, and we always book a house for our stay. This house was a pleasant stay. The bathrooms, the living areas, the outdoor areas were all very nice and comfortable. The house was clean, well provided for and exactly as described. I would only make one suggestion, the beds (fully described in their listing) could probably be a bit better quality and only having 1 Queen and 3 small twins was a bit different that our normal experience. Not bad per se, just different. It's a very small suggestion on an otherwise lovely property.

Awesome house

This house was a great location to Main Street. We loved the feel and history of this home. It had everything we needed (including a variety of coffee) and the beds were super comfy. We enjoyed sitting on the porch under the beautiful tree. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Cozy Accomodations!

We were surprised at the amount of room for living and dining and thoroughly enjoyed the den and the back patio and the heavenly backyard. Easy access to the covered parking to load and unload bags. Loved that the refrigerator had ice machine. Also we loved the newer bathroom and extra space to get ready all in the same spot. Perfect home for the 5 of us to enjoy a reunion weekend!

Just the right place

The location is the perfect walking distance from Main St. The kitchen was well stocked with dishware and pots and pans, and the refrigerator/freezer was larger than we needed for our 4-night stay. all in all, a very comfortable place for our family.

Fredericksburg's Best!!

We spent our "gals weekend" here in Fredericksburg, & stayed in this OH So charming, cozy, & beautifully decorated home!! The house has 2 bedrooms, one very large bedroom with a queen bed, & one very roomy bedroom with 2 twin beds, & a day bed, with its own GORGEOUS bathroom! The family room was perfect for us gals to sit on the very comfy sectional and catch up on our lives, drink some wine and watch some TV shows. The home is an older/vintage home...but it has been remodeled while keeping much of the "vintage charm". It was well kept & stocked with everything you might need during your stay. Although we did not sit out in the back yard, there were plenty of chairs to sit & enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The home is located only a few blocks (very quiet neighborhood!) from the main street with LOTS of shops, restaurants, music venues, wine tasting shops and the main road to all the Texas Hill Country wineries!! (10-15 minute drive). Us gals had a very enjoyable, relaxing and FUNTASTIC weekend! I will definitely rent& stay at this wonderful home again!

Overall, everything was AOK. Could use some light bulbs in 3-4/4-5 lamps fixtures in different parts of the house. Too, if it was available, couldn't find any instructions anywhere on how to use the remotes for the TV. For old geezers like us that would be helpful.

Our Stay at Gastehaus Schmidt, Fredericksburg

Overall, our experience was good. We came to see family, and family we saw. However, there were a few things that "bugged" us (haha, pun intended). There were two large bugs dead in the living room (they were about an inch long, brown, with legs), there were small black bugs in the bed one of my boys slept in (I guess you call them bed bugs), and, the floor under the bed were not cleaned for a long time (lots of dirt/dust/lint ) under the master bedroom bed and the beds in the kids room. Other than all the bugs and dust/dirt, it was a pleasant old home that we stayed in.

Charming house just steps away from Main Street

We were able to walk around and enjoy the town! We walk to restaurants, bars, the Oktoberfest, shopping in the grocery store. We were 4 girls celebrating a 60th birthday and had a blast! We loved the seating areas of the home and enjoyed spending time together and drinking wine from the Texas wine country. The house was a perfect layout for our group and it was a plus that the owner left us coffee that we enjoyed each morning. The neighborhood is very safe and people are friendly. I would love to stay at this property again!
