On 'The New River Trail'
This 1800 Sq. foot home is located in the historic mill town of Fries, VA. The beautiful New River flows by our small village on it's way up north. 'The New River Trail' follows the river from Fries to Pulaski for over fifty miles. It is a 'Rails to Trails' project for bikers, hikers and horses. There is very little incline or decent and you will find trestles, a tunnel, beautiful wild flowers, shoals and lots of cool shade in mostly secluded deep woodlands. The fishing is great along with canoeing, tubing and kayaking.
Blue Grass Music is plentiful with The Galax Fiddlers Convention and Fries Fiddlers Convention the second and third weeks in August.
The house is only 14 miles from the most visited National Park, 'The Blue Ridge Parkway' and the Blue Ridge Music Center.
For those of you with wonderlust there are lots of narrow dirt and paved roads with pastures, mountains, creeks and valleys to explore.
The front porch of this home is just as inviting in-person as this picture implies... awesome home! We had 4 adults and each had our own comfy bed. Perfect! Terrific kitchen, comfortable dining room, living room & TV room. We loved being only minutes to the New River Trailhead. We appreciated this wonderful home has a washer & dryer. We also enjoyed the local Fries Steak House for dinner. Rachel & Richard are great hosts! They communicate well, are flexible, and provided everything we needed and then some. I highly recommend this property!
Our stay was great. When we walked in the front door we felt at home. The house was very clean and beds were very comfortable. The perfect place to make memories.
My daughter and I reps bikes on the Nee River Trail and had a wonderful time. The house was in a convenient location and had everything we needed. Thanks!
Great location! Very nicely decorated. We parked behind the house via the alleyway.
Loved meeting Richard. He came to the rescue when we were cold. Rachel was great at responding to questions. Loved being abke to sit on front pirch this morning and enjoy our coffee. If you are in the area this is a great place to stay. We rode bikes on the New River Trail. Went and found the two tunnels. We had a great time for 67 to 73 year olds!
