Loved our room. We splurged for a canal view and stayed in Rm 131. It was a high first floor with great canal views. We adored the staff and management who spent a generous amount of time guiding us on what to do for our 24 hrs I in town. The suggestions were perfect for a couple in their 50’s. We crossed the bridge for drinks at the beautiful 1898 Post Hotel Cobbler bar. Walked 35 min to Bar Bask for an incredible dinner. Stopped by several bars on the way home. Went to the top of the Belfry tower (by way of elevator) to see the city (had to walk back down the stairs). Went inside St Bavos Cathedral. Took a $10 canal tour with the magnificent Alan - the electric boats nearest the back of the Marriott are better than the noisy ones on the opposite side of the canal. Lunch @ Pakhuis was beautiful but just ok food. Absolutely loved the beauty, the people and the kindness of Ghent. My absolute favorite of the 4 cities we visited.

Absolutely wonderful! Perfect location. Make sure you get a canal view room. Already one of my favorite world destinations and place to stay. Marriott, this is one of your best yet!

Amazing mixture of old and new together into one hotel. The rooms were lovely and the atrium quite special, maybe unique. The staff were great with good recommendations of places to visit in the city. Would highly recommend.

We found the hotel an oasis of calm during our time in Ghent. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast as well. The location is perfect for the city centre and parking, although expensive, was easy. You can also charge your electric car as well.

Lovely stay in the heart of Gent

The hotel was spotless and well maintained. The front desk staff were lovely and the breakfast was great quality and the chef was very attentive as well. Couldn’t fault the stay, perfect set up for a family of 4 with spacious family room.

When I booked this hotel for a birthday trip for my wife & I, I wasn't warned (at the time) that I had booked for the period of the Ghent Festival. I was also not prewarned tat, I had booked & paid for one of the hotels premium rooms, overlooking the river. I should have appreciated the information that this room, although scenic, was directly over the "Pole Pole" stage where blindingly loud, very bass-beat heavy music would be going on to 2.30 every morning! after the first night admittedly the hotel did offer to move us to what they said, would be a slightly quieter room but no mention was made of refunding the premium that I had already paid. So beware, out of festival period, pleasant hotel, convenient for Old Town. During Festival - pack your ear plugs!
