The British breakfast was traditional, fresh and good. There was also haggis (without the sheep stomach) and black pudding, so it could keep a person full until the afternoon. It was a good 4.5 on the breakfast meter. The room service was excellent and everything was clean. The staff at the front desk tried to be helpful, but note that there is no way to plug an HDMI cord into your TV to work from your computer. They have measures to only play 'Marriot TV' and there is no way around it. However, the Bar Staff was truely exceptional, and I can name them, because they became friends in a short period of time. Akshay, Joe, Angus, Harry, Priya... they felt like family, even during the busiest of times. They made my vacation and introduced me to some of the best Scotch I had never tasted before.

The Marriott was a very good choice. The British breakfast was very complete with a good variety. The tour buses were nearby, shopping districts and train stations. The city bus station to Edinburgh was a bit of a hike, but it was the best option with buses leaving every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day and quite cheap. The hotel fare was very good and the room was clean and well cared for. Netflix is available if you have an account and a computer to sign in. Convenient stores were close, as was other good dining. On the downside, you cannot plug an HDMI cord into the TV from anything. It won't work due to Marriott programming. On the upside, the bar and hotel staff were EXCEPTIONAL. After a day of touring, I would come home to the 'Brew Bar' and it felt like I was amongst family. Akshay, Priya, Harry and Joe became welcome friends and Angus' recommendations about scotch were a learning experience. The Glasgow is to be recommended, because of them.

Excellent hotel with great breakfast. Booked it because it was walkable from queen st station and then only a 20 min walk to the Hydro for a concert. An ideal hotel for this.

Not keen on having to pay for parking at the hotel, I think this should be included but never mind. Check in was straight forward although he we’re not told about the swimming facilities at this time when other guests where. Love the fact there is a fridge in the room for you to use for whatever, this should be standard for all hotel rooms. Beds were very firm and as such I couldn’t sleep well even with a duvet on the bed to help. Spacious bathroom with great range of towels, face cloths hand towels - amazing, normally you only get the tlbatg towels. No robes in the room and despite asking we only were provided with one. Despite the room having 3 people in it, there was only 2 cups. The pool is really good as is the sauna and steam room, shame there is no hot tub. Staff in breakfast are really

Great Stay

They stay was great, bar staff excellent and the room Ok because we found the mattress very firm. We stay in Marriott properties a lot but found this bed a little uncomfortable.

Fridge so useful, safe, pretty good TV including 2 sports channels. Fitness centre excellent with two well equipped gymnasia with wipes/spray and towels but didn’t get to spa/pool. Was able to open windows so turned off aircon. Good blockout curtains.

I loved everything about this place except for on thing which explains the star rating. I know Scotland has a reputation when it comes to food, but I don’t actually believe that. What I do believe is that whoever is making the food for room service has stopped caring about food. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Everything else left me desiring so much more. (Too much sauce, not enough sauce, overcooked, where is the salt?) I would just say that I would love to stay here again, but I’ll be ordering drinks from room service and I’ll head out for dinner. Other than that, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff are awesome and deserve all the praise. Thank you all for being so kind.
