We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and loved walking around the amazing gardens and wooded areas. The location is excellent being close to many Borders towns. The property was clean apart from the oven which needs a good clean and the pot shelves which were greasy. There was no frying pan large or small so we were unable to cook the steaks we brought with us.
There was no welcome letter and no-one called by or phoned to welcome us or check that we had everything we needed. Neither were we provided with a telephone number for the property manager. Despite the lack of customer care we still had a lovely break and the staff in the coffee shop and the gardens were all very friendly.
What an absolutely incredible place to stay - so quiet, peaceful and the gardens to which I was allowed access, were truly magnificent! A sincere thank you to the owners/residents of Mellerstain House, for giving me, as a guest, the privilege of being able to do this even when closed! 10/10âïž
