Beautiful views over the lake

Very friendly and helpful service, great sized bedrooms with a wonderful view (if you pay for the lake view...) made it a very serene stay at The Inn on the Lake. A perfect example of why you don't "judge a book by it's cover!" The front of the hotel overlooks the very busy A2, and the interiors (hallways and bedrooms) could do with some updating, but the rooms are huge and if you pay for a lake view room you get a wonderful view of the lake(s) and all of the wildlife that comes with it. The service was excellent throughout my stay and the bar was well stocked with a good selection of drinks. The food was decent; breakfast was a selection of cereals and fruit with the option of cooked and evening meals had a good selection of meals. They also have an on-site masseuse, but I never got the time to try. Overall I had a very relaxing stay, whether sipping a pint overlooking the lake after a day at work or waking up and watching the ducks waddle about from my room with a morning cuppa and would recommend to anyone looking for a little breakaway in the area... Just ignore the view out the front

Oh my goodness!!!!!

Definitely NOT worth £98 per night. The staff were really nice especially the young black guy in the restaurant on Saturday and Sunday morning. The breakfast was very poor. The tea and the coffee….if that’s what you could call it were awful. Moving on to the bedroom. Moderately clean but the bed and the quilt had both seen better days. Very lumpy and very uncomfortable. In short we will not be returning. It’s such a shame because the setting for this hotel is lovely.

Good location for the channel tunnel

Hotel dated but large rooms and clean. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Bar staff very friendly. Meal was good value and tasty. Breakfast was a complete let down. Watered down orange juice. Cooked breakfast was okay. Cheap ingredients and some of it was cold. Would have expected better quality for the price of our overnight stay.

Nice and comfortable place to stay

Nice little place if you want to take a break from driving. Although it's just off the main road, you can barely hear the traffic on the road. The veranda area outside the rooms could do with a clean, and a barrier to stop the ducks coming on to it.

The staff were so friendly and helpful - a real credit to your company. The outside area was delightful and the beds were very comfortable so a very enjoyable stay. Breakfast was also very good so would stay here again!

Depressing Stay

The staff were very friendly and no noise from the very busy A2 but that’s sadly the only positive thing I can say. The room; the smallest tv I think I have ever seen in a hotel room, about 24 inches. No pictures, no sofa or chairs to sit on. And no one wants to lay on a bed when you’re back in the room. The double bed was more like a large single. The hairdryer didn’t work so luckily I’d bought mine. There were 2 overhead lamps but one bulb didn’t work properly and one of the shades was cracked in multiple places. The room didn’t have air con but a fan above the main ceiling light. When we switched the fan on so much dust and fluff flew off, it definitely hadn’t been cleaned for a long time,if ever. There was also wallpaper peeling from the walls in places. The bathroom; we had a family room for 3 people but they only provided enough towels for 2 people. The enamel was peeling from the bath and looked rusty. There was a sign asking for nothing to be put down the toilet apart from paper but there was no bin in the bathroom or main room. I seriously didn’t not want to spend the night there and wouldn’t come back. It was not homely at all and a lot of improvements need to be made to thoroughly modernise.

Chosen it because of location-its better to travel

Don’t like to leave negative reviews, but our stay was unfortunately very disappointing. The reception staff were consistently helpful, polite, and a credit to the establishment. Cleanliness issues: The bathroom-mould, bugs were crawling on the bedding (picture). There was a sticky residue on various surfaces, giving the impression of poor cleaning or a hidden anti‑slip coating(my little one joke), dirt stains on chairs. Health concerns: We woke up with bites, indicating something in the room bit us during the night. In-room equipment: Instructions said to dial “0” on the phone for assistance, yet there was no phone provided. Dining: Our child enjoyed fish and chips, but other meals were disappointing. pizza lacked sauce and was burnt. we requested BBQ sauce, but when I pointed out the issue, the waitress said it was “too late,” showing no willingness to fix the mistake. My wife’s burger was bland and lacked taste and again sauce. Considering the quality, the food seemed overpriced. We would rate it 3/10 overall. (3 as child liked fish) The bar staff were rude and made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. At breakfast, we requested three baguettes and two croissants. Initially we were told “no problem,” but then the waitress informed us there were “no extras,” and we received only 2 baguettes and 2croissant. We were willing to pay for additional but were never given the chance. overall, there seemed to be a lack of basic customer service training among bar and breakf

Lovely relaxing location

Lovely calming location with the lake and ducks. Staff professional except for 1 male named Steve sho caused me distress with his aggressiveness and rudeness when he wrongly accused me of my dog barking. Told him he shoukd give me an apology. He just ignored me. Very poor customer service. All the other staff were great
