Nice hotel, but one cautionary note
Posted Dec. 9, 2023 on HotelsThe hotel and staff are excellent. The one drawback of the hotel is it’s location. In order to get to the shops and restaurants in the city core, you must first navigate 3 or 4 blocks that are not pedestrian friendly. The streets are narrow, dark and very run down. It did not feel safe at night. However, nothing bad occurred on our walks.

I chose this property because it was located only minutes walk from the central bus station, 10-15 mins away from the airport by car, and 10-15 mins to anywhere in the old town. The port and castle is practically outside your window. Should note that for €1.50, it’s 20 mins from the bus stop right behind the hotel to get to Knossos Palace!
The hotel has a cool history but it is old and tired. The rooms are sufficient but dark, despite two windows. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the rooms very quiet, which I appreciated. Korres’ amenities was a nice touch. There is a cafe on site, but menu was limited and over priced. Unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to visit the breakfast buffet, but it looked generous with lots of options.
There were 1-2 friendly folks at reception/front desk, but I have to admit overall the staff here was less friendly and helpful than all the other places I’ve stayed in Greece.

Awesome property big breakfast spread! Also close to the center city. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and nice
