Chateau Allure Du Lac is a luxurious, exquisitely decorated, 19th century lakeside chateau in a magnificent 105 acre estate located in the western part of the Loire Valley. It is surely one of the most spectacular chateau rentals in France, offering a 22-acre private lake, a beautiful park-like island with an antique gazebo that’s ideal for outdoor wedding ceremonies, a wonderful lakeside terrace that great for cocktail parties and BBQs, on-site swimming pool, tennis court, & 9-hole golf course, palatial lawns, gorgeous gardens and miles of walks around the lake and through the woods full of wildlife. Family vacations, weddings, reunions, parties, themed workshops (including art, photography, yoga, language immersion, etc.) and film shoots are welcome.

Self-cater or we will prearrange delicious catering including breakfast, lunch, dinner and wine & hors d’ouevres tastings served in the dining rooms, gardens or on the Lakeside Terrace as you prefer.

Internet, wi-fi and guest laundry facilities are included, and various services including housekeeping, transportation, musicians, wedding planning, photographers and florists can be arranged. The Chateau has been extensively renovated and sumptuously decorated with beautiful antiques and rich fabrics. Although majestic with its dramatic, double carved-stone stairway in the entrance hall, and elaborate 16.5 foot ceilings throughout the main floor, the Chateau is warm and welcoming. An elevator services all four floors providing easy access to the magnificent reception rooms, gorgeous dining rooms, and the 14 beautiful en suite bedrooms, each one uniquely decorated in different color schemes ranging from azure to rose, and filled with antiques, crystal chandeliers and beds you never want to get out of! There is even a two-story master suite, with its own foyer, drawing room, and antique oak staircase leading up to a huge circular en suite bedroom with an original hand-painted domed ceiling.

There are also two apartments with 5 more bedrooms in a separate building that’s a 3-minute walk through the gardens from the Chateau. They are not decorated to the same luxury standard as the Chateau, but offer a very affordable way to have more people sleep on the estate at only €150 + 10% tva tax per night per apartment through 2025, rising to €175 + 10% tva tax in 2026. The 2-bdrm will sleep 4 people; the 3-bdrm will sleep 6 people. There are also charming bed & breakfasts and hotels for many more Guests nearby.

There are many activities available on the estate and in the area. On site we offer swimming, tennis, fishing, row boats, croquet, ping pong and great walks (and runs) amongst the gardens, around the lake’s 2.5 kilometer shoreline, and through the woods. Wine tasting, golf, horseback riding, bicycling, river boat tours, hot air ballooning, museums, churches, restaurants, gourmet cooking classes and shopping are all nearby. Some, including wine tasting, bicycles and gourmet cooking classes will come to the Chateau.

The Chateau is well situated just 20 minutes from Angers with its great shops and restaurants. Angers is 85 minutes from Paris via TGV, and another international airport in Nantes is about an hour away. There are many other delightful villages to visit nearby.

Enquiries from location agencies, location scouts and location managers are welcome as the Chateau is also available as a castle location rental for film, movie & television productions, TV series, commercials, and fashion shoots, etc., in the Loire Valley, France.

Wow! It’s difficult to know where to begin in writing a review for Chateau Allure Du Lac. It is utter magic. I was going to write I would ‘recommend it to anyone’, but in fact, I would only recommend it to those who will truly look after it and appreciate the splendour / beauty that William and Susie have managed to both restore and create. When we rented this for the week of our wedding, I initially thought we had just booked a spectacular chateau. We had… but what I hadn’t appreciated was that we had also booked over 100 acres of the most magnificent nature, woodland and wildlife.

We spent a week here with all of our family and friends, and in the run-up to our wedding were able to enjoy so many activities, including: sunrise runs round the lake, golf, boating, swimming, tennis, table-tennis, sports on the beautiful lawns and countless memorable breakfasts and dinner parties in a variety of beautiful rooms and outdoor spaces. The chateau is extremely well-located for quick trips to the Supermarket or to the character-ful Grez-Neuville or Angers. The chateau rooms all have their own character too and are decorated in such intricate and brilliant ways. The Tower Suite is simply other-worldly – I would happily have moved in forever!

Our wedding day simply couldn’t have been better. We used the beautiful island for our ceremony, after which all of our guests commented that it was the most picturesque setting they had ever seen for a wedding. We then had drinks and music on the terrace (ask William for the string quartet recommendation – they’re ace) followed by a sensational dinner in the court-yard. We booked the chateau’s catering company, and enjoyed one of the tastiest 3 course dinners we’ve ever had (if you have the option to book the Chocolat Nougat dessert, do it!!). Dancing into the night on the lake-side terrace with the chateau view has provided memories that we’ll never forget. If you are considering getting married here, I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Last but not least, we all know that of course it’s not the place but the people that make a venue truly special. If I was rich enough, I would book this for another week just to hang out with the owners some more. Susie was away during our stay, but William honestly turned this from a brilliant week into an extraordinary one. His knowledge of the chateau’s history is fascinating, and his general zest for the chateau, hosting and for life more broadly is infectious. He was so accommodating to our requests, as I know he will be for yours, and worked on so many little details to ensure we got the experience that we wanted. If you’re still reading, well done. Our third time in four years

We returned to Chateau Allure du Lac for our third time in four years. Once again our experience was delightful and our guests absolutely loved everything about the property. We balanced out time between relaxing at the chateau around the pool, the lake tends court and the newly added golf course. The greens are a bit rough but the challenge of hitting golf balls between trees made the game interesting to all (serious golfers and hackers like me.

The activities in the immediate area from Angers to Chinon and Rennes where plentiful and families as well as adults in the group found plenty to do within less than 75 minutes drive.

The catering was again wonderful especially the wine and hors d’oeuvres buffet on the side of the lake.

William and Susie are wonderful hosts, always present when needed whether a guest had a special request or a medical emergency.

We enjoy moving around and discovering new places but we can see ourselves coming back to Chateau Allure du Lac with yet another batch of guests because we know they will have a very special stay there.

A fantasy come to life!

Magnifique! We celebrated our anniversary with family and friends at the magnificent Chateau Allure du Lac and it was a fantasy come to life! The Chateau is grand in scale, well appointed with beautiful period decor, and quickly became our “home” for the week. Amazing that everyone felt so comfortable and at ease right away!

The chambre suites are all spacious, beds very comfy, and having en-suites for each was truly wonderful. We had several dinners catered and each was perfect with elegant table settings and service, having used both the Silver Dining Room and the Beautiful Wood Paneled Dining room. Plus the “downstairs” kitchen became our hang-out for guests to share their adventures at the end of each day.

The owners were most helpful and very charming, sharing their experience of owning and maintaining a chateau with us. Definitely some engineering and construction miracles were done here.

We highly recommend this beautiful, inviting and secluded property!
