The restaurant in the hotel had to be precooked for breakfast and dinner and only served Japanese food. Very little English spoken

Not really Resort level, bad service

Publié le 25 avr. 2018 sur Hotels
BAD SERVICE. Supposedly a Resort Hotel but you get services like in a business hotel. FIRST, don’t book the room with breakfast. It comes with Japanese breakfast but NOT good, really really simple like in a business hotel and many guests get seated in a room with tables flushed to a wall. We booked dinner too (food was great, in fairness) but got seated at the same table flushed against the same wall, with a divider flushed to the table’s other edge. It was like eating on a desk in a library, despite our request for a table change. (There were many vacant tables!) The staff said, “it’s our policy to seat you at the same table.” Why oh why?? There’s a better situated restaurant on their first floor surrounded by glass (no walls!) with the best ocean view... but it’s for customers who were smart enough not to book their breakfast with their rooms. We’re being punished for paying more! SECONDLY, If you need to change your bath towel, you get charged for it. There’s a box at the Onsen (public bath) where it says “put used towel here” - Don’t! - because your new towel, which you have to fetch yourself from the front desk, will cost you. Staff said, “it’s policy,” and he offered me two thin hand towels and said, “or you can use these instead of a bath towel.” Are you kidding me? Hagi is a beautiful place. I will probably return to Hagi but stay at a real resort hotel at the same rate this one offers or at a regular hotel for a fraction of this hotel’s price.

Japanese Resort Right on the Water

Publié le 20 sept. 2016 sur Expedia
Pour : views and comfort
This is a Japanese resort hotel, with all the charm and all the quirkiness that this implies. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path, fairly far from the nearest train station (no taxis in sight, but a kind lady phoned for one on my behalf). That said, the hotel is in a stunning location, right on the beach and right near both the castle and the old samurai residences. The rooms are big and comfortable, and the hotel spa has a view of the water. Very little in the way of restaurants nearby--indeed, none that I could find for dinner. You eat on the hotel meal plan, or you don’t eat. Still, a great place to stay in Hagi, if a bit steep in price.
