There's a restaurant on site. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. WiFi is free in public spaces. Haida House at Tllaal also features gift shops/newsstands, a garden, and a picnic area. Free self parking is available.
Smoking is allowed in designated areas at this 3-star Tlell hotel.
Buildings and grounds were very nice but there were three empty cans beside the deck and a jar of cigarette butts on the deck. Shower was kind of dirty. Nobody there at check in. They advertised free breakfast, but there was none. They said they wouldn't clean our rooms, but then they did. Worst of all, half an hour before check out a staff member came on our deck, past our enormous windows, without knocking, to check the PH levels of the hot tub, or something! We did not have our privacy respected
This place was perfect. Great location. Food was fantastic. The staff were very helpful, friendly and offered great suggestions.
Would definitely recommend
Haida House is simply superlative. The quiet private setting on a reach of land backed by the Tlell river and fronted by a vast expanse of the Hecate Straight canât be beat. The cabins are new and profoundly beautiful, built in the style of a longhouse. I will note that the cabins would be even better if they were equipped for guests to do some of their own cooking and food preparation. Would love to see this upgrade in the future. Complementary breakfast was great - they even had sunny side up eggs available in the fresh breakfast buffet. Dinner in the restaurant was one of my best ever. Truly astounding, especially in such a special place, far removed from the bustle of the world. I couldnât recommend the Haida House more highly.
Haida is unique so is this property. Very kind Haida people own and work in this hotel. Breathtaking surroundings, serene and wild. I real treat for anyone who likes"authenticity and untouched remote nature with istory !đ
A uniquely rural property with outstanding views of the sea and beach. We stayed here in what was considered to be early season (April) and the property although open was on restricted hours for restaurant,(only open Friday to Monday for dinner and no breakfast).
The nearest shop for groceries or supplies is Port Clement,(great shop, has beer, wines and spirits but not open on a Sunday), otherwise the Co-op in Masset, a 2 hour round trip, with no alcohol available.
Restaurants listed as close by were either closed or on restricted opening, most were Thursday to Sunday or Monday, one (Blacktail in Djaaling Gidds),
was open Wednesday but only to 9.00pm and was very good and very busy!.
That said, Haida Gwaii is a stunningly beautiful place to visit. Good asphalt roads to the main areas of population but it is a long drive to anywhere from anywhere and it is not at all subject to any high grade tourist infrastructure.
Car hire companies charge by the kilometre as well as hire cost. Get your own insurance for car rental.
So pleased we made the considerable effort to visit this island inspired by the BBC Race across the World series. Be prepared though for the acceptance that services may not be available even in a hotel, so ask prior to booking, especially if early or late season.
Also the Skidegate/Alliford ferry is $44.20 for 2 adults and standard car. Pay only at Skidegate.
In season watch out for Horse flys and no-see-ums!
Sensational restaurant open for breakfast every day and dinner only 5 days a week. Alternative restaurants 40 km away.
Very helpfull and pleasant staff. Nice, rustic decor.
Rooms are basic, not in line with the rest of property.
Beautiful suraroundings and acces to the beach.
The location was great about half way between Sandspit and Masset. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The food was excellent. The staff were superb!
We stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 kids under 3. Breakfast being included is an amazing deal because itâs a legitimate breakfast, not just a standard hotel breakfast. Staff were all extremely helpful and very nice. Itâs conveniently located in the middle of the island so itâs good if youâre going to visit various spots. When we were leaving, the staff made us breakfast to go and ran it out to us packing the car up. Weâve travelled a lot and weâve never had that great of service at a location before as we did here. When we visit in the future we would definitely stay again.
Haida house seems designed and managed to embrace the spirit of haidi Gwaii. There are varied opportunities to explore the culture and history of the area and staff and keen to advise on what to explore and /or experience and just share their love of Haida Gwaii in general.
