Small lakefront cottage on Black Lake with dock - can sleep 13

Nestled in the woods on the shores of Black Lake this small waterfront cottage is peaceful and private, offering a large screened porch to sit and watch the sunsets! It has two bedrooms and one bath in the main cottage (530 sq ft) and a separate bunk house (100 sq ft) that allows for sleeping accommodation for 7 additional guests. Kitchen and living area is open plan with a large enclosed back porch that makes a great entertaining space. Two firepits. Dock. BBQ. Peddle boat. Canoe. Lawn games. Camping atmosphere in rear of house and lake vibes in front of house. Fully stocked kitchen. Linens, towels, toiletries all provided. Washer & Dryer. Clothesline. There is access to a private boat ramp 1/4 mile away. We use this place when it isn’t rented so we have everything needed to have a relaxing lake visit. We are always improving and adding value for our guests and ourselves. **Please note that Black Lake is not ideal for swimming due to lake weeds & lake muck.** Also - This is a cottage/camp in a woodsy area on a lake. There is lots of nature around! Fish to catch, birds to watch, mosquitoes to smush… we treat for insects, pests, and critters but we do not have the ability to control Mother Nature. There will be some gnats, mosquitoes, spiders and flies around the outside of the property due to the wooded lake location. We provide mosquito repellant and bug spray. The house itself has room to sleep 6 (1 queen bed, 1 full bed, 1 queen futon) and the bunkhouse has 7 twin beds. There is a step down to access the living room, one bedroom and the porch. There is one step up to the bunkhouse. There is also an unpaved incline to reach the dock/lake. Verizon cell service works great, but there is no service with other cell providers.

Quaint cabin in a quiet location
If you like a cabin with some quirky character, this one will suit you just fine! It feels like an old cabin that has been expanded a few times - a plywood floored entrance way that was added on holds outdoor activity equipment, a washer and dryer and the trash cans. It’s a good area for dusting off before entering the main cabin. The cabin has a nice sized kitchen with a table that will seat six, adequate prep area, and reasonably stocked. There are two mid sized bedrooms in the main cabin as well as a small living area (which holds a chair, futon, and extra folded cots). The back porch which faces the lake is screened and has a table for four, a table for two, and additional seating. It is well lit for evening use; in late October when we visited, it was great to sit out on the porch and listen to the silence - there was no noise, minimal light pollution - very relaxing. Outside there are two very large fire pits; the only downside is that wood is not supplied (although there are spots along the road to purchase). There is a somewhat narrow driveway that we were able to maneuver with our long-bed dually truck with a 21’ bass boat with tandem axle trailer, although a spotter was really a must to avoid hitting trees along the way. Once through the narrow spot there was parking for quite a few cars. The only downside for larger groups might be the single bathroom; however, for us it was no issue. Great location on the lake as well - good deal!!

Great, but know what you're getting.
Nice but somewhat rustic cottage. Two double (I think) beds in the main cottage, then a futon and 2 rollaway cots. Would be challenging to find room for the cots and futon if all were to be needed. Bunk house has 2 bunk beds and 2 more twins, 6 total, in a small but clean, newer building. Window A/C was nice there--80's for 2 of our days. Mid-sized fridge and freezer. No dishwasher and no real system for doing dishes (except a drying mat next to the sink.) Decently stocked kitchen. Only 1 bathroom, which was a challenge for 6 adult men. Loads of parking. A few safety issues. Low metal roof at the entry (only one of us hit it!), irregular and high 2x4 threshold into kitchen, weird log-based step with a board on top going from kitchen down to the living room, and a slightly wobbly step up to the bunkhouse porch. Moderate grade down to the dock with some gravel (no one fell), and the floating pieces of the dock (furthest out) were particularly challenging (again, no one fell.) Probably not a problem for the young and agile, but our older group had to be careful. We were there to fish, and we had some difficulty getting in and out at the dock due to low water (about a foot deep, but a very soft bottom allowed us to trim the motors and we were just able to get in and out--very slowly.) On a great, central portion of the lake and well protected from weather. Christine and Gerard were fantastic. Very responsive, let us get in early and depart late if we needed.

We have been coming up to Black Lake for over 30 years and have stayed elsewhere. This cottage is by far our favorite. Love the cleanliness and thoughtfulness that the owners have put into sharing with us. Rustic private and beautiful!! We will definitely be coming back!

Magical
This was my first time using this app, and let me tell you, this was a dream place. The owners were amazing with communication and the place was like sweet and rustic. The land was lovely and I personally loved the screened porch and the rocking chairs outside. We had 2 perfect weather days and then one spooky storm night that was actually really cool to watch from the porch because the lightening reflected off the water which was incredible. The only two flaws we experienced was that the main door was very hard to lock and I clock and the oven made the inside a little smoky (which could’ve been our fault I’m not sure). Other than that, it was lovely. Thank you for being such great hosts.

Just what we needed
My family of 5 and 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Spinner camp. Things we loved about this place: The cabin was super clean, the beds were comfy, and cupboards were filled with just about everything we needed. The location was perfect for a quiet, private place to disconnect. The cabin had excellent air flow with all the ceiling fans. Even with temps in the 80's we didn't need the AC once. The screened in back porch was our oasis and safe haven away from all mosquitoes and biting flies. Morning coffee amongst the birds and those lake side sunsets were just what we came for to recharge our souls. Some things we wished we had (not requirements for everyone but you may want to consider packing): a clothes basket to carry clothes to the clothes line, a small kitchen garbage, a dish rack for drying dishes, and a baby gate (to keep dogs off porch in case screen door wasn't latched). Some things that could use improvement to make this place even better: The latch on the main door gave us grief. Our kids stayed in the bunk house so we couldn't lock it at night and it was constantly popping open. A door stopper would be helpful too for keeping it propped open during the day for airflow. The shower could use a new shower head, non-slip pads, and a handrail to help step out. We would definitely recommend this cabin.

A calm and relaxing place!
The cabin and bunkhouse have many available beds and the screened in porch is amazing. This area has a lot of green muck in the water, but ample amounts of frogs who croak to each other. The cabin is clean and well stocked. There are places to have camp fires on the property, just remember to use bug spray. This was a relaxing and enjoyable place.
