The Goodwin is a beautiful hotel. The staff was kind and helpful. The valet staff was nice, as well. The room was nice; however, the area of town is VERY noisy. Since it is an older hotel, the soundproofing is lacking.

Our go to place in Hartford

The air conditioning was great. The room was nice and chill. They have large fluffy towels and plenty of them. The staff is always friendly and has good energy. The hotel also always smells great. The down side of this trip was that we paid a lot more for the room than we have before because there was a lot going on in Hartford. This was our 6th visit. It is our go to place when we go to see our son at college. We will be back in a week.

Good: bed,pillows, clean Bad: given an accessible room when not requested; no shelf in bathroom or shower, poor lighting, no hangers in closet, extremely annoying and loud AC unit- located near head of bed and blowing air directly on you. Lose tiles in bathroom and shower gel dispenser broken Disappointed and not likely to return.

This was a very nice hotel. Historic. Renovared. Lots of character and decor. Would give it 5 of 5 but for two odd things and two things of note. The odd things are no coffee in the room. They have tea and you can request a french press. And no hair dryer is in the room. Firsts for me for both. The notes are that the breakfast is exceedingly limited and there is not a full kitchen; the restaurant has a limited selection of bar plates. I would stay there again, and recommend it, but be advised one must venture out of the room for coffee unless you know how to work a french press.

The staff members were very attentive and very respectful. 5 stars to them, give those fine folks a raise!!! Didn't care for the area though, I was racially discriminated against just standing out on the sidewalk along Asylum street. I dont plan on ever coming back to Hartford but if by some act of God, I had to c9me back no matter what, Id stay at the Goodwin.
