Old time charm with modern convenience.
The property is fantastic with beautiful gardens.
Service oriented owner .
One of a kind if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle but still be close to grocery stores etc.
The cottage even has a hot tub.
Had breakfast on the sunny front porch.
Wish we could have stayed longer.
What a fantastic cottage. The house is very well maintained and the daily upkeep from the owners was unobtrusive and efficient. We would stay here again, given the opportunity.
This is my second stay at Tairoa Lodge. It is a beautifully restored house with kauri floors and staircase, set in a large garden. Outside, the kauri trees, although young for kauri trees, are magnificent. Linda was an attentive host with a good eye for the details that make your stay memorable. Highly recommended for a taste of historic New Zealand.
Our stay at the Tairoa Lodge was an absolute delight.
We were very very last minute for booking a trip to the Taranaki region, and thus we were left with very few choices in accommodation.
Now we normally look for modest but tidy, while the lodge might have been a little more than our usual budget the charm and character were enough to loosen our purse strings.
And we were ever so delighted that we did, we were struck by the passion that Linda has clearly poured into this beautiful house right from pulling into the driveway.
She met us fairly late and yet still offered to make us a pot of chamomile tea after our long day's travels. The room we stayed in was absolutely charming, such detail to preserved the feel of the original house while still maintaining the luxuries of a modern home.
We had no trouble sleeping in the serene silence of the outskirts of Hawera and when we awoke Linda was all to happy to cook us a magnificent breakfast, it was a hearty meal for a great days adventure.
Overall I loved our stay here, Linda is both a fantastic host, and keeps a fantastic place to stay and I would recommend her Lodge through and through.
Thank you Linda for an amazing weekend.
Lovely room with the heater already on for our arrival (late May). Very comfortable bed with plenty of bedding and electric blankets, so lots of choice. The en suite was well laid out with a good shower and all was perfectly clean. Beautiful lounge with club chairs and a wood fire. Breakfast in the dining room was continental on the table and cooked to order. It was all generous and very good.
We had a party in the evening at the Tairoa Lodge event centre next door which was just a short walk through the lovely gardens, there and back, which was as friendly and efficient as our accommodation.
Linda is a great hostess for whom nothing is too much trouble. Everything was perfect, we shall happily go back.
Wonderful place to stay. The room and property were not just gorgeous but also clean and comfortable.
The service was superb and it was wonderful to leave feeling relaxed and spoilt even though I was on a business trip.
Would definitely stay again.
Linda was very welcoming and friendly. Electric blankets were provided in the bedroom which was very welcome in the chilly weather. The gardens are extensive and wonderful anda key attraction of staying at Tairoa. It would be great to come with more time in the summer months to make the most of the garden
Tairoa Lodge was a delight. Loved the ambience of the building and the gardens; very comfortable room; and Linda provided a delicious evening meal at short notice so I did not need to go out again to eat after arriving just on dark. Breakfast was also excellent. I will definitely stay again next time I am visiting Hawera.
Wonderful Experience! We stayed in the cottage which is really a very spacious home. 1 and 1/2 baths with huge cast iron tub , 2 bedrooms all on lovely quiet grounds close enough to walk to town.
