Along with a restaurant, there's a coffee shop/cafe on site. Free breakfast is served. A computer station is on site, and both WiFi and wired Internet are free in public spaces. The County Hotel also features multilingual staff, laundry facilities, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Self parking is free.
Ideally situated with restaurants and shops nearby. Helensburgh is delightful. Well managed with comfortable beds and really great young lady in the breakfast room who was exceptionally helpful. Really enjoyed our stay with friends.
The hotel appeared generally clean but there was a sticky spot on the carpet, the toilet seat in our bathroom was broken and there was food left in the fridge from a previous occupant. The towel rail in the bathroom was stuck on full blast so both the bathroom and bedroom were unbearably hot and the windows had to be wide open to compensate, letting in biting bugs and the sounds of arguments and swearing from outside. Most of the breakfasts were ok, even though all the men in the party really wanted was some bacon, but the gluten free breakfast was chewy and plasticky. The hotel says it has a car park but it only has about 8 spaces which isn't enough for all of the rooms and we heard some very unhappy people arriving later in the evening and discovering that they were going to have to park elsewhere and walk to the hotel. When we needed to talk to someone on the front desk we had to ring the bell for ages because they were in the kitchen listening to very loud music and couldn't hear the bell. However the beds were comfortable, there was plenty of hanging space for clothes and we slept well
There was no indication when our party booked this hotel that it serves Vegan and Vegetarian food only. This wasn't a problem for me but was for some of the others. Difficult to access the building (locked front door on arrival in the afternoon and waited for 20 minutes for someone to open it) and nobody on reception on any of the days and finally got checked in by a girl who seemed to be the cleaner/waitress. There was heavy rain on my last night and the ceiling in my bedroom started to leak. Put towels on the floor and reported it in the morning (after a sleepless night). Got a very disinterested response of 'I'll have a look at it'. No hint of an apology or concern for my welfare to what could have been a dangerous situation if the ceiling actually came down. Customer service appalling.
Stayed for 2 nights the hotel was ideal what I required and room was good but only dislike was restaurant was vegan menu and no alcohol was available so if knew before booking it probably stayed else where
