A pleasant surprise. Brilliant reimagining of a period property. Nice rooms and view. Lovely reception space. Located 5 mins from the archaeological museum, which is the main attraction in Heraklion. Also close to the old Venetian Harbour. Very helpful reception staff.

We were at the Megaron for one night, on our way to Chania. The hotel was very nice and our room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff, specially Effie at the front desk, were very pleasant and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoy our stay. Definitely would love to return!

This was our 3rd time at the GDM Megaron and I cannot say enough great things about the hotel. Staff is courteous, helpful, always available. Hotel and rooms are clean, quiet, safe and always with immaculate attention to detail. Location couldn’t be any better relative to shopping, dining, walking, airport, seaport etc. this is and always will be my go-to location to stay in Heraklion (and we actually even have family there we could stay with for free, but just prefer to be on our own). It’s obviously a little on the expensive side but well worth it.

This hotel wan beautiful and would have enjoyed and even longer stay. Right by port and airport and we're able to park our rental van without issue. Hotel was up to date and clean. Ate are the hotel restaurant on top floor with lovely views. Menu not extensive but everyone was able to find something good to eat and saved us the effort of going out.

Nice but somewhat pretentious….

Reception was excellent and all staff throughout were superb. This being our 4th hotel in Greece it was the only one where breakfast was not included as stated on the reservation and reiterated at reception somewhat making one feel uncomfortable. Such exclusions however seemed to be a trend at a “luxury” hotel: the Nespresso machine had 2 capsules and not 4 like other hotels, so no decaf! There was a note about a water bottle as is this was special (honestly not sure if that was a daily bottle as we changed rooms), 1 bar of soap, single toiletries (shampoo and body wash) so you had to ration them if 2 are showering, no bidet in a luxury hotel where you cannot flush toilet paper, and 2 large balconies looking at the sea that had no chairs or table as in our other hotels. We asked to switch suites after day 1 as the entrance door to the corridor of the 1st floor leading to all rooms closed automatically with a strong thud that continuously jolted us.The hotel was accommodating and moved us to the 4th floor away from that door but we then were under the restaurant with moving tables and chairs. Needless to say we had little sleep for 2 days. We decided to pay for breakfast and it was an impressive layout of “prepared”items, but how much can you really eat? We had dinner twice on the 5th We had a light dinner twice on the 5th (name of resto on 5th floor): excellent service, food and prices.Megaron is above the rest but with a few annoyances that could be easily remedied

Very good.

This hotel is across the street from the Iraklion harbor, offering interesting views of ships coming and going and a close-up of the Venetian fort. It’s also within the old city, with pedestrian-only streets full of local people and busy indoor-outdoor restaurants. (This was in May during comfortable weather.) The interior of the hotel reflects the inventive upgrade of 2023. The only drawback was the lackluster food, but as I said there are numerous restaurants a few minutes away by foot.
