Kentchurch Court - Kentchurch Estate

A home like no other, Kentchurch Court offers far more than accommodation—it is a unique historic experience. The Scudamore family has owned the estate since it was granted by William the Conqueror in 1066, with the property recorded as Sancta Keyna in the Domesday Book. Nestled in the countryside on the English-Welsh border, this remarkable estate provides an unforgettable setting for family reunions, celebrations, and gatherings.

Stepping inside Kentchurch Court, guests are immersed in history. Set across four floors with enchanting tower rooms accessed via a winding staircase, the house combines period charm with modern comfort. Chandeliers, coats of arms, antique furniture and original architectural details create a grand atmosphere, while contemporary amenities ensure every convenience. Relax in the elegant drawing room beside the woodburning stove, enjoy friendly competition in the billiards room, or gather in the spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area. Ten individually designed bedrooms, many featuring four-poster beds, provide luxurious accommodation.

Outside, 25 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland invite exploration. Wander through flower and vegetable gardens, watch deer roaming the estate, enjoy coffee on the terrace, play croquet or tennis, arrange archery or laser clay shooting, cycle or walk the grounds, or spend time beside the estate's fishing lakes.

A special place for a special celebration

I don't think words could do this place justice. We were a large family, celebrating a special birthday. The venue, the estate, and the booking process were perfect on every level. We're looking to book again for the future. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Family gathering for significant birthday

Fabulous property that is as good if not better than the pictures. Every room is a new surprise & caters for another situation - from the large formal reception rooms to the smaller, cosy snugs. Every bedroom is excellent. Having access to the surrounding deer park allows you to be lord of the manor for the weekend! The house was beautifully prepared by Linda & Helen as housekeepers who also provided a detailed tour on arrival. The property is extremely well equipped- I can't remember ever renting a property with as varied & extensive equipment list. Despite being a large & old property the place was warm with endless hot water. Ideal historic property pwrfect for a big group break.

Brilliant place for a group up to 20 people

Kentchurch Court was an amazing venue for a family holiday for three generations. It catered for the needs of all ages, in our case 7years to 83 years old. The kitchen was modern and was fully equipped with everything one could need for 20 people. the rest of the house kept the character of a stately house built in 1790 and a tower built in the 14th century. All the bedrooms were fantastic and nobody wished they were in a different bedroom. The beds were comfortable and the whole building spacious and beautiful. In this vast area the young children really enjoyed "hide and seek", and "sardines". The tennis court and snooker table were frequently in use. The two lawns provided space for Croquet, and we brought our own equipment for Badminton, Volley ball, Tennikoit, and Rounders. We were fortunate with amazing weather and spent a lot of time out doors. The grounds are amazing and enormous and we went for variety of family walks. Never left the estate except to visit the pub and that by walking. After arrival cars were redundant. The Banqueting Hall was excellent for evening meals and the outside tables and chairs were perfect for lunch in the sunshine. The large sitting room was a perfect place for putting the world to rights. The estate staff were exceptionally helpful and kind, answering all our questions and meeting our needs. The only thing that was missing was card and board games for children. We never needed them as the weather was so good, but others might and could bring their own. In short it was the best family holiday we have ever had for our family of 19. Thank you Kentchurch Court. Highly recommended.
