Widely regarded as Britainâs most scenic racecourse, the stands provide a great view of the horses as well as the fabulous scenery that surrounds the site. Situated 600 feet above the thriving town of Hexham, the steeplechase course hosts around fifteen race meetings a year and always offers a warm and friendly welcome.
Situated just over 2 miles away from the centre of Hexham, which is packed with attractions to visit all year round including Hexham Abbey, Hexham Old Gaol and sporting facilities including a bowling alley, athletics track and swimming pool. A brilliant spot for walkers and cyclists too, there are many walks, footpaths and cyclepaths that pass by the racecourse and out into Hexham and beyond. Only a few miles north of the town, guests will be able to visit Hadrianâs Wall and take a walk along this historic site that stretches over 70 miles. Guests will be able to explore ruined forts, museums and a Roman town along the way. Chesters Roman Fort and Museum, Birdoswald Roman Fort, Housesteads Roman Fort, Vindolanda and The Sill all offer a brilliant insight into the history of the area and make a great day out for guests of all ages. A few miles further is the popular town of Corbridge which is known for its chic shops and eateries as well as riverside walks and cycle paths.
Newcastle upon Tyne, The Metrocentre and the cathedral city of Durham are within an easy 40-minute drive, and the beautiful beaches of the Northumberland coastline can be reached in a little over an hour.
