No snow snowmobile trip

We had planned on snowmobiling but with the lack of snow we brought our side by side and still had a great tkmr!

Great host, easy stay - sometimes bumps are blessings
Publié le 30 août 2023 sur HomeAwayWe stayed the weekend, family of 7 (adults +baby). Owner was great with communication and easy to work with through a few minor issues (not worth detailing, owner was fantastic to assist). Well stocked, plenty of clean towels and linens, washing machine and dryer…
GREAT location in the heart of the eastern Upper Peninsula… within 30 mins of anything you want to see…
Again: can’t acknowledge the communication and feedback of the owner enough… real easy to work with and offers full access to a lot of amenities most places don’t even consider (garage, bbq, fire pit, chairs, etc.)…
One thing to mention: We were a little surprised to realize the pull out sofa wasn’t there (as mentioned in the listing), so we were down a bed… but we worked it out, my adult kids decided to slumber party on the downstairs floor like teenagers.
If you like a cozy place to stay, this is your place!

Quiet and Comfortable

This place was great for what we needed which was a home base for us to head out from. The home was stocked with plenty of dishes so we could cook our own meals. There was plenty of towels and sheets available for use and best of all, they were cleaned. We enjoyed having dinner on the unique dining room table and the kids loved sitting on the bench seats. We were about 35-40 mins away from the falls so that worked out well for us. The owner was also very responsive. I text a couple of questions to the phone number given and was replied to within minutes. I was very appreciative of that. The only things I would mention to renters is if you come, make sure you bring your own food as the nearest grocery story is in Newberry which was about 30 mins away. Not bad of a drive if you live in Michigan but it can be if you have been driving all day to get there. The other part I didn't realize was that this home didn't have any trash pickup so you literally had to take your trash with you. Thankfully, the owner was nice enough to work with me on that and coordinated with his house keeper. That was very nice of him because I would have had to take my trash home with me. Overall, it was a cozy little place that was great for my family and I. We enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay so they can explore the beautiful UP.

But their were several problems that we had to deal with. A very dirty refrigerator.
With lots of expired food and empty bottles. So we cleaned it out. But I did not take that smelly trash with us when we left.
The freezer has really old meat in it.
there was four of us. And only 2 bath towels in the cupboard. Until yesterday I just happened to open the dryer and there were towels left in there.
That smelled mildewy. We managed with a couple extra beach towels we had. TV in the downstairs bedroom didn't work. But by far the worst was a really dirty oven,With two old cooking sheets loaded with bacon grease!!! We kept smelling something bad in the kitchen. Case solved old, old bacon grease. I'm guessing you have a hired housekeeper. You might want to look in on her job. The closest in the downstairs bed was completely full of clothes...
We couldn't hang up any of our items.
I have pictures I will be sending also.
It was very disappointing, plus we sent pics!!

Thank you for the review, the house keeper did miss the bacon grease pan in the oven. We apologize about that and the towels not being clean. The clothes are ours as we use the cabin as a second home as well. The food and meat in the freezer is left from tenants or us. As discussed after your departure the house was left with bird seed and feathers everywhere along with the cottage being left unlocked. We did happily refund you a portion of your stay due to some of the errors on our part.

Publié le 4 août 2023 sur HomeAwayThe property was as expected. They had more than enough extras in case you forgot something. Very comfortable for our family of five. The cove of homes was very quiet. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again if we chose to stay in the same area.
