Loved this place. Luxurious house on a remote beach. Friendly folks right next door, but other than that we saw no one on our walks up the sandy beach. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Cooked all of our meals in the well-stocked kitchen - important for us since the town of Sisal has not much to offer for vegetarian eating and is a bit of a drive from the house. Comfortable and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with stunning views. Quick responses from the host anytime we had a question or concern. A great experience. Would definitely consider staying there again, maybe with more people than just the two of us - there was plenty of room.
This was exactly what we were looking for! We wanted a private home and beach without tourism nearby. We only saw 2 other people walking on the beach during our entire stay. The beach and ocean floor has a very soft, white sand. We loved swimming in the ocean because it was warm and we could walk out a ways because it was quite shallow. Right now there are no homes nearby, but there is a home under construction right next door. We met the lovely couple building the home and even chatted for some time. I don't see it as a negative, to have the home right next door, but just something to be aware of because it is a change from the VRBO photos.
We spent many hours sitting in the shaded lanai area by the pool. It is an infinity pool with a peaceful sounding waterfall. There is a hot tub ~ but it was empty ~ we didn't miss it because it was pretty hot outside. We loved the privacy and distance from a town ~ but just so you know, you can't walk into a town to a restaurant or market. This home is near the end of the road going east and about a 10 minute drive west into Sisal. But again, we were looking for a location just like this! We flew into Merida, bought our grocers and drinks at the Costco and then drove about 90 minutes to Sisal and then Villa La Siesta. Sisal is a quaint, little town ~ not touristy at all. It has a few lovely restaurants, small convenience stores and a gas station. But we mostly did our own cooking and ate at the house. We didn't want to leave!
The home was well equipped with some basic seasonings, oil, a water filtration system for drinking water, nice beach towels and other necessities. Very comfortable couch and big TV for watching movies. The beds are very comfortable. Most importantly the house was very clean. The view of the ocean is stunning from all 3 bedrooms and kitchen area.
Attia, the owner was wonderful with answering many questions and giving us connections for scheduling an amazing excursion to see flamingos and kayaking. The gas grill was out of propane and we couldn't get the gas stove started ~ but he was very quick to communicate with us and help us solve these minor problems.
If you are looking for a very quiet, peaceful beach vacation without tourists or tourism nearby ~ you will love this home! We are already talking about going back and hope that it is sometime soon!
