In addition to reducing rates for 2026 up to 40%, we now have some winter availability. We were originally not renting the house out this winter, but were able to schedule construction and have now made some dates available. The house is AMAZING in winter.
This farmhouse situated right on Cayuga Lake, was built in 1826 at Kidders Landing. The home was renovated to provide modern comforts. The house has 200 ft of gently sloping waterfront lawn and a new 100' dock with a swim ladder and a large platform for fishing and jumping into the water.
The house sleeps 8-10 comfortably and can be adapted to house more. In addition to being located on the lake and in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country, The Painted Porch Cayuga Lake Vacation Rental is also about 200 yards from a fun little log cabin lodge/restaurant/bar. So, while the house is fully equipped for dining at home, you can also make a last minute change of plans and go next door for a glass of wine and a nice dinner!
There are two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs. Two of the rooms have alcoves with additional bunks, making a multi-family stay more comfortable. There are ceiling fans in all of the bedrooms as well as additional window fans and air conditioners in all 4 bedrooms. We recently added air conditioning to the kitchen, living room and dining room.
There are tons of fun games in the house. And the kitchen, despite being simple, has all the tools to make a great family feast. From baking tools to roasting pans, steamer pots & zesters to a waffle iron, popcorn machine and a crock pot. The gas grill is also a great tool for summer cooking.
We spend most of our time at the lake, on the porch, in the living room and in the kitchen. Each space is a family reunion hub.
On the three acres, there are big trees and big lawns, perfect for bird watching, croquet and badminton!
Between the house and the lake is a small two lane road, which has few cars and serves primarily as a walking, jogging and biking trail. On the bright side, it is also maintained throughout the winter! We also provide little yellow "crossing markers" to create a safer environment for crossing, in the event a car goes by. In the winter, this road is maintained by the county.
The lawn slopes down to shale beach. The dock is new and goes 100' out into the lake. Mid-simmer, the water is over 6' deep before you get to the large platform at the end of the dock. We have a large patio area with dining and lots of seating. We also have a fire ring at the edge of the beach.
There is a biergarten outside on the patio off the kitchen. Bar tables and chairs. It is fun to watch for cool birds and the local white deer from there while dinner is being prepared! We have also added a patio on the south side of the house, for another shady option on late afternoon.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: This simple farmhouse has NO TV but does have fast fiber-optic internet. You can have access to free wifi at O'Malley's also. Major sporting events are shown on the TV there. There are also 4-5 bars of phone service in the front of the house with ATT. Please also note. We have RING doorbells for security purposes; to protect the house and YOU, our guests. We also have a RING camera behind the house to monitor the bird feeders. We do not look at these unless our guests ask us to or if we are waiting for a package to be delivered. And we look when the house is not rented. We value YOUR PRIVACY.
A few more things: About half of our guests bring dogs. After each dog there is an extensive cleaning process. We do suggest (for the sake of cleanliness) that dogs don't go upstairs. If you bring a dog: The neighborhood is full of dog walkers. All of them are very respectful of the leash law in our area. They get really really frustrated if a dog is loose in our unfenced front yard and runs out to their dogs. Not all of their dogs play well with others. :( Please keep yours on a leash.

Finally, we have 4 bikes which are kept in the shed. And kayaks, a canoe and paddle boards stored on the rack at the lake. We have many life jackets stored in the deck boxes on the porch, but we always recommend bringing your own, just in case.
