Stay in the beautifully renovated 1877 mountain homestead at the end of the road on a privately owned high country farm called "Island Hills Station".
Access to vast areas of private land for hiking, horse riding & mountain biking at no extra charge.

Historic "Huntaway Homestead" has 5 bedrooms serving a minimum of 2 guests; using 1 x double room or 2 x single rooms, or groups of up to 9 guests using 1 x double, 3 x twin share rooms and 1 x single room (twin share rooms can convert to doubles on request).
Relax in the tranquil garden BBQ area or on the porch decks leading to a huge front lawn for frisbee or cricket. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor areas and there are plenty of farm kennels available. No dogs inside the accommodation facilities, compulsory sheep measles worming required.
With respect that Island Hills is a working farm, "Huntaway Homestead" guests have self-guided access to the on farm museum, hiking trails, some 4 wheel drive tracks, swimming holes, mountain biking routes and horse riding trails. Bring your own bikes or horses, paddocks or yards available for the horses.
Meet the farm animals and during spring you'll be able to feed the pet lambs.
Lets not forget the glorious night-time star gazing in a true dark sky environment.
50 minutes drive to the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools, day spa's and restaurants.

DESIGN YOUR OWN ADVENTURE HOLIDAY
There are add on activities available such as farm 4 wheel drive tours, guided day walks and guided heli-hiking adventures with genuine farm-bred kiwi hosts. There are also options for guided day hunts for rabbits, deer or pigs, no previous experience or licenses required, kids over 12 years old welcome, members of the New Zealand Professional Hunting Guides Association.

CATERING OPTIONS
You can bring your own food and drink to self cater with access to full kitchen, dining and BBQ facilities. Alternatively you can choose from any of our catering services; homecooked evening meals, continental style breakfasts and packed lunches (GF, DF and Vegetarian options).
